Is adultery wrong?

My personal opinion is that adultery is wrong, at least in most instances. However, it would be a terrible overreach of power to allow the government any say over our sexual lives. Adultery ought to be completely legal with no legal repercussions.

Yes, it's immoral to me and it Hurts...Fundamentally immoral if the cheater causes a substantial loss of money between the two of them that causes a problem to the victim (For example, the cheater has a "secret" porn addiction or strip club addiction that causes a severe financial loss to the victim).

I feel that one should divorce if their husband / wife has sex with someone else. I feel like divorce should not be a "last resort" as many others who have similar beliefs as me do. It'll just make them worse - in my opinion and from my personal experience + If you do divorce them without giving them some "second chance", it'll make them treat whoever else they'll fall in "love" with later on better, they'll be less likely to screw up (in my opinion). Along with that, giving them a crappy second chance will cause a lot of stress on the victim (at least it would to me) - every kiss they'll give you will just remind you of what they did (at least to Me it would). Overall, it (may..) change them if you divorce them when they do cheat on you in the way I describe, instead of all these second chances that'll most likely turn into third and fourth ones.

I do believe the government should have absolutely nothing to do with marriage and divorce unless the couple wants the government to be involved in it (like joint taxes or whatever it is that the marriage license claims to do, or like the example I stated above with the financial loss).

Morally? Yes. Legally? No. Adultery should remain a civil matter between the parties involved and not enter the realm of law.

Because it causes to many problems in society. We need to society to remain perfect and adultery is a huge problem. In fact, I believe all forms of marriage should be banned in the first place, but if we're gonna have marriage, Ban Adultery. Regulate the punishments.
