Right, because what the world needs right now is a dictator who supports international terrorist organisations.

As for Hezbollah, its role is exaggerated - its current contingent in Syria is much smaller than a single division, and the Syrian army still has at least a dozen divisions all over the country.

That's not the point. Hezbollah are a religiously motivated terrorist group, no different to Al Qaeda and its affiliates. They support Assad.

Also, most people around here don't make a difference between Islamist and fundamentalist.

Least of all, the people who support Assad.

I don't think it's difficult for any reasonable person to decide which one is the lesser of two evils.

So why pick the dictator then? Why pick the prick who has no qualms about torturing small children and massacring unarmed civilians? Why choose the man who didn't initiate reform but mowed down protesters with machine gun and sniper fire?

To be honest, both sides are terrorists, which makes this war so much more delightful. It's literally a conflict of black vs. black.

Hezbollah vs Al Qaeda. It's sort of like the Melbourne Storm and the Brisbane Broncos. You don't care who wins, so long as some of the key players get taken out before the finals. ;)

Well if we could clear out Syria of all the actual Secularists and moderates, and just let Hezbollah and gang vs. AQ and gang, I'd be quite happy. Bonus points if Lebanon explodes, Kurdistan is created, and gay strip clubs are introduced everywhere.

Al Qaeda didn't exist in Syria until after the civil war began. And anyway, his regime supports groups like Hezbollah and Hamas. Both of whom are either classified as terrorist groups or have committed acts of terrorism.

My solution. Deport all the jihadists of every variety to a desert island. Give them large amounts of marijuana and alcohol, and tell them the only way to get out is to work together. They all build a raft, have a couple of orgies and pledge start strip clubs of all varieties across the Middle East. Hassan Nasrallah builds an animal shelter in Tripoli for dogs abused by Turkish policeman, and Ayman al Zahwiri represents San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest, held in a newly independent Kurdistan.
