But it happens a lot as if all human beings are somewhat connected. So I thought that the Earth might be one huge organism and all the lesser organisms, the bacteria, the plants, animals everything including us are part of this huge global organism. Basically saying here the Earth might have a core brain, but not a brain we would be thinking of. The trees on this world serve a huge purpose. They breathe out oxygen for the animals and why do things like this work. The Earth is thinking. But we as humans are the only sapient animals :eyebrow:. If you want to count dolphins.

But when concrete is poured on the ground, notice how it cracks and sometimes plants grow out. Nature is constantly fighting our artificial life style.

So do you think the Earth is somewhat telepathic, sapient or just a huge organism? Please have a sane discussion, no sillyness.

If you've not read any Sheri S Tepper, you should.

The "True Game" books, and the Arbai Trilogy discuss roughly what you're talking about - and "The Companions" deals with it explicitly.

When scientists say things, people tend to listen because science actually brings forth insights and innovation. Holy books are compilations of mythological stories. The fact that The Sector Union is able to shock and amaze us with his strange yet lackluster personal views is the work of science, not the work of mythology. It's one of those unintended side effects of technological progress.

All that remains is to show that biological systems replicate in such a way as to satisfy the minimal criteria required for evolution to apply to them, something which has already been adequately shown time and again. At this point, we've pretty much proven that not only can evolution happen, it pretty much must happen since it's basically impossible to prevent it from happening.

It's a standard false equivalence pulled out by people with unfalsifiable ideas that get painted into a corner.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

It's like falling asleep. The trick is to try not to cast it.

It's funny because I posted two original threads, one on the US' founding ideals and one on farm subsides, and those haven't been locked yet. And they're original. And they're free of telepathic marijuana communists buying horses for their suburban home family in God-hates-Atheistsville.

If by "discussion" you mean posts that are a) "What the fuck?", b) "HAHA look at this crazy thread let's dismantle its premises" or c) "So I got my nails done today. It was nice", with the ratio being around 7:1:3 respectively, then yes, they cause "discussions".
Don't be deceived when our Revolution has finally been stamped out and they tell you things are better now even if there's no poverty to see, because the poverty's been hidden...even if you ever got more wages and could afford to buy more of these new and useless goods which these new industries foist on you, and even if it seems to you that "you never had so much" - that is only the slogan of those who have much more than you.

Once again, may I point out that the reason these threads are getting so much attention and are constantly on the front page for you to whine about, is because YOU KEEP POSTING TO THEM.

Ponder that for a moment. I'm sure eventually you'll grasp the solution.
