The best Star Trek series

Postby Great Franconia and Verana » Sun Jun 02, 2013 6:15 pm

So NS, what is your favourite Star Trek series? I personally prefer Voyager. I loved the crew, and Janeway especially. But what was the real kicker was that the show had a recurring theme. Getting home. It was only the main feature in a few episodes, but it was always there, something to strive towards, unlike The Next generation, my second favourite, which was more stand alone missions without one goal.

I'll say enterprise out of xenophobia and contrarianism.

Tied between TNG and DS9, although I haven't watched Enterprise or TOS and I'm only about halfway through DS9. I actually have an episode of it on right now.

I cast the first vote for Deep Space 9, but I'm torn between Deep Space 9 and The Original Series.
"Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy." - President Abraham Lincoln.

Myself I have to say DS9, if for nothing else the fact that it broke the franchise formula of some kind of problem that will either take out the crew or the galaxy itself and afterwards everything is back to normal. Also it let us see a federation battle fleet before and after with fighter escorts.

Toss up between TOS and TNG with DS9 running a close race.

I... just gave up on Voyager. I know, I'm sorry. And Enterprise... didn't even attempt it.

Original was the best, but I did like TNG & Deep space 9. The bottom line is that Shatner was the best captain. You know what people mean when they say something like, "why did you Kirk out like that?". As much as I loved Deep Space 9 & as much as I know Patrick Steward is the best TV actor in the Star Trek series, no one ever uses Picard as a verb.

The original series is best.

I'm surprised that TNG is in last place.

All about DS9 for me. Favorite captain, most interesting ensemble, continuing storylines, decent exploration of what happens when a utopian society runs up against shades of gray morality...the show had it all.

Having just seen the new movies, I don't really like the guy the have playing Kirk. He reminds me too much of Adam from Workaholics.
