Anyways, I decided to start out with the number of males in the 15-64 year old demographic. That took me a while to calculate since I had to deal with the raw number, but the total was 103,129,439 males in 2010 (source).

Now, presuming that percentages are the same across the board, I calculated the theoretical percentage of white males from that number. 72.4% of that number is 74,665,714 white males.

Now, I deducted 10% of that number (the oft-quoted number of the population who are LGBTQ whatever), and got 67,119,143 males.

Total population in the United States was calculated to be around 308,745,538 persons in 2010 (same source as before).

So my theoretical percentage of straight, white males comes up to be 21.8% of the population. That's not a majority.

Hmm, very technically, all men in the USA could be white (they aren't), and the ratio could still hold. That would make them a plurality (f divided among race and sex).

But I was just pointing out an assumption that was made for these numbers. There just might be socio-economic reasons that the ratio of male:female among the white American population to be slightly different from the general male:female ratio. Where's Indi, she should have figured out the numbers by now
