Besides Turkey.

Seems that said majority can exert tyranny only through voting and manipolating the police, though ;)

Not enough guts to stage counter-protests?

I don't know the situation in Hungary that much but the people did not vote for the AKP to oppress us, but for the economic stability. And they are so sheep-ish to have their voices heard except during the election times.

The stupidity has brought us into this situation.

Well, I doubt Erdogan would win elections again ...even the most illiterate, uneducated yahoo from inner Anatolia would hesitate to vote for a guy who reacts like that in a fucking "save-the-park" protest.

The wet lady in that photo seems to be the following person being hit by water and which I saw yesterday on a news site. She is lucky they did not use more pressure or she could have been thrown back some distance.

All these images from Turkey are so uplifting! Unlike Syria, where the opposition has descended into a mindless rabble of rival fiefdoms, the people here are so united! It's amazing to see so many people of all different political ideals (and football teams) making such a comparatively peaceful stand against Erdogan. All the people helping each other, all the people using acts of peaceful defiance (i.e. standing and taking the brunt of water cannons, leaving out lemons to help those affected by tear gas, reading books to the police, etc.) - now that's the way to make a stand! Not an armed rebellion, not civil war, just making a stand is the best way to go. :)

And THAT BULLDOZER. :D :D :D

(Addition: Interesting... Auto-correct is trying to change "Erdogan" to "Underdog." :p )

Major trade unions have declared a general strike starting on Wednesday. It will cover about 250,000 people.

How do you even compare them... it is a totaly different situation. And just saying, if this keeps up I doubt a civil war will be avoided

Sure, but that's a lot of money. I mean, how many airports have been built in the last 8 years alone? You don't want to end up like Egypt (from an economic standpoint) do you?

No, but if it means I can't drink my alcohol, can't express myself politically, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk being lost...

...if that's the price, fuck it. I've lived in poverty before, I know how it is. I'd still be up for it. Some things are infinitely more important than economics, money and gold.

I was on my way to the protests in Alsancak; and I saw a group of elemantary school students shouting slogans such as "Shoulder to shoulder against fascism" and "we are Ataturk's soldiers".

The people did not believe me when I said I was hopeful about the future of our country; before such protests ever occurred and Erdogan was rapidly increasing his authority and pressures. Because the new generation is more enlightened, they follow the social media and are very interested in politics.

I saw a bunch of Elemantary school kids make fun off some Pakis the other day. Does that count as progress? :P

Anyway, I am positive on what is going on in Turkey, I just wander how Erdogan will be treated when it all ends

All in good time.
