The president is more reasonable for sure, he made a statement criticizing Erdogan by implication, saying "Democracy is not all about elections" and said the protesters' messages have been taken.

But we want to see some real action. I believe he has the power to pull the police off, or at least have the government do so.

Yes, I heard in the news that he said something about it. Erdogan can't remain in government for much long after what he did.
If your President did act then propably Erdogan would resign and that would create a quite strange situation, I guess that's why he waits.

Also, take a pick at the AKP's page in wikipedia, it's quite accurate I think.

I think in all realism; AKP and Fidesz are pretty similar.

Hubgarians are just more conservative and nationalist than Turks and as such Fidesz hasn't any real reason to oppress its people.

I know an homosexual Hungarian, and from what he told me about his country, being gay there is quite an awful thing, especially due to Jobbik.

The problem is that Fidesz and Jobbik are actually popular and supported by the majority and so are their policies. Hungary is Europe's Tyrrany-by-majority.
