No. Expressing shock and surprise that someone else can be human and make good choices even though they come from a hateful background is cynical. That she is a woman and people have done nothing but make comments about how they are physically attracted to her and how she's too pretty to be straight, too hot to be hateful, or too good looking to hold any particular view on pretty much anything is the exact opposite of what should be said about anyone. How someone looks should not inform their opinion on anything. Essentially, how a person looks is not a prerequisite to being a good or bad person, nor should it be one. I heard one of Phelps's sons on the radio - he ran away at midnight of the day he turned 18, and screamed up the stairs at his sleeping father before running out of the house. Phelps is a monster - a physically abusive father who keeps his family in a state of fear. The WBC consists mostly of members of his family; it's like a family cult, more than a church of any kind.

Considering the stuff his hero says, it makes perfect sense.
