Is there a possibility of a second U.S. Civil War?

Ok, so everyone should know about the Civil War. (If not, there's something wrong). But my question is, could there be a second civil war? I mean, yea, a lot of racism has gone down, but in a lot of places, it's gone up. Blacks and Whites are clashing over so many issues, and Democrats and Republicans can't agree on a damn thing anymore it seems. This could lead to bloodshed. Way I see it, it will be more democrats vs. republicans than a regional thing this time. What y'all think? Whose side would you take?

Possible, the likelihood of an full-scale civil war is small to say the least. But I would not deny the Possibility of another Civil war happening in an eventuality, as for the side.. I would be on the side I would agree with.

I believe there is a decent chance. Texas and South Carolina have talked about seccession in the last few years. If a state did attempt to secede, I have no doubt at all that the President would declare war.

A civil war would not be caused by racism, however. That's retarded. The original civil war was not about racism, or slavery, or anything of the sort. It was about taxation without representation, and it was about Lincoln being unwilling to split the nation.

Of all potential civil wars, it's ridiculous it would be a war between democrats and republicans. Secessionist wars are more likely and that's still not going to happen because the majority do not want secessions.

No. Just no.

We've come a LONG way since the Civil War. Racism isn't half of what it was. Yes, there still is racism (the KKK and the Black Panthers still exist), but the mass majority of the population is okay with blacks and whites. There are laws preventing discrimation as well. And as of right now, Texas is the only remaining state that even has instructions on how to sucede from the Union. However, if the US economy takes a MASSIVE dump on itself, it may be a smart idea for Texas to take what gold we have stored in it and leave before things get bad. This would result in the remaining US forces to try and reclaim that gold supply. And this would also require the US's money reserves to still be backed up by gold.

A civil war? No. A revolution? I don't know about this day and age, but it is possible. The US isn't a third-world country, and our system is a lot better than the countries that are expieriencing revolutions. But a revolution isn't totally out of the question. And before anyone starts saying that these two things mean practically mean the same thing, in this thread, I'm referring to a 'Civil War' as a war fought between two sub-governments within the same originial Union and by 'Revolution' I mean a war fought by the people against the government.

There would not be another civil war. For one thing, war doesn't work like it did a hundred fifty years ago. Militias don't exist any more, and the federal government controls the military. If Texas and friends said that they were just up and leaving, I'd give them three days before the entire USM is just kicking them in the face until they surrender.

Actually...Texas is filled with Pro-Gun people. If anything, I think Texas is the only remaining state with enough militias to last about a month against the USM.

I realize what the war was fought over, I am just saying that slavery/racism was part of States Rights, and it was one of the bigger things argued after the war.
