You're right.
We should ban churches.

Hey if a religious institution doesn't want the business, they don't have to give the marriage any holy sanctificaiton. Just as long as they keep their big noses out of the secular social contract of marriage. Yes I said marriage, because religion doesn't own the word.Ahmedistan wrote:Oh sure. Damn it, if Bill O'Reilly said that homosexual marriage means at some point I would be able to marry her, why don't I have my rights?
But yeah I support marriage equality
When she's uplifted to human level of sapience, I wouldn't have anything against that.

That being said, any church that doesn't wish to perform holy sanctification ceremonies is only giving money to the Unitarian Universalists and ELCA Lutherans who have no problems with performing that all and collecting the fees to use the place...

The overwhelming majority of Germans support same-sex marriage - and that's supported not only by actual polling but - far more importantly - by the anecdotal experience of my friends over there.
I know, I gave evidence that he was talking shit by sourcing a Wikipedia article that stated something around 3/4 support it. He complained that I sourced Wikipedia. I am still waiting, but I seriously doubt he has anything to give. I have only 1 friend currently living in Germany, and she says the same thing your friends are saying.

If the other poster isn't German, it's easy to be confused - since a lot of the politicians in Germany are opposed to same-sex equality - but I'm under the impression that the poster claims to be German.
Similarly, if it was someone who had last been in Germany a decade ago, the amount of the German population openly in favour, would have been considerably lower.
So the question is - is the poster not German, have they not been in Germany for quite some time... or are they making it up - because the truth on the ground is almost exactly the opposite of what they are trying to portray, right now.

I really don't get why people don't realize how much money recognizing homosexual marriages could inject into the economy.

I mean holy shit, the second it gets fully legalized here in Illinois I've got crash-startup plans for a little chapel, wedding cake bakery, florist, and limo service all in one. Even if I get a small percentage of the business in Chicagoland I'd probably clear seven figures in two years if I play my cards right.

Considering the number of homosexuals with families here in Utah, I would think once it is legalized (eventually) there would be a whole slate of wedding ceremonies getting planned.

Oh the claim was even worse than that, the poster claimed that the people, unlike the German government, do not support recognition. The poster has been living in Alabama.

Still waiting on that source that states that the population of Germany is not in favor of marriage equality... the one that isn't your anecdotal experience. Maybe a survey, or a study, or something else that is quantifiable...German Deutsche wrote:Neutraligon wrote:

The people I know, our groups of youth fascists, and there are many of us do not support recognition.
