Why do we not give students the information and let them decide what information they believe and want to spend their lives proving or disproving?

Nah, we'll just carry on teaching them science, thanks. You know - not bullshit.

They are supposedly our future and have all of the advances in science and technology. For hundreds of years it was believed that everything revolved around the Earth. Many people thought there was outstanding evidence to prove in their favor. Now we know otherwise.

Many people thought the universe was spawned by some bearded sky man who, despite being omnipotent, took 6 days to do it and then need a rest, and thought there was outstanding evidence to prove in their favour.

Now we know otherwise.

Similarly, people thought that God created all the animals in a few days about 6000 years ago, but we now know otherwise. So should we teach kids that the Sun goes around the Earth? Or that the Earth is flat? How about the phlogiston theory? Or the luminiferous ether?

Creationism is easy, the only question on the final is "Who created the universe?" and you know what the answer is.

Creationism is real for certain because god told us so in the bible

Colossians 1:16
For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.

Josh Beaty wrote:Evolution has gained wide support in the past century and has creeped its way into the school system in such a way that Creationism is frowned upon and not taught in school anymore.

much like we don't teach that disease is caused by an imbalance in the four humors.

In a society where everyone wants scientific proof before students learn the material, topics such as the 'Big Bang Theory' receive outright support without complete scientific proof.

You don't understand how science works, because nothing in science has "complete proof". The big bang theory is however as well supported as say thermodynamics or plate tectonics. Evolution is even more well supported than these, evolution is among the most well supported laws in science.

There just seems to be a bias towards Creationism because its roots lay in religion.

and because it has not one single shred of scientific evidence, but the former is a good enough reason.

Can you share your viewpoint for or against Creationism and/or Evolution?

schools should teach science not superstition.

Science: knowledge assembled, tested, and constantly refined over at least the past 9,000 years of human history. Religion: unverifiable stories that have remained practically static for comparable amounts of time.

I support theories with evidence being taught, but there is freedom of religion, and it isn't necessarily being respected when all children, regardless of faith, are being told that everything they've been raised to believe is wrong (If they're religious, of course)

Creationist threads are the under hand slow pitch of NSG.
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Separation of church and state requires that children be taught facts, even if their super special bible doesn't agree.
I support peace in Israel and Palestine. The governments and people in power on all sides are an absolute disgrace, and their unwillingness to pursue peace is a disservice to the people they are meant to be serving. The status quo is not simply untenable; it is unquestionably unacceptable.
