Exactly, "race" has more to do with cultural elements. Genetically humans exist in a continuum with no clean cut racial divisions.

I don't think it is too important, it is more the geographical area; than 'race' or arbitrary distinctions like 'ethnicity' that counts in a study. If I was to study people on several pacific islands, you wouldn't be able to determine anything by setting aside those that use language x vs language y; though you could determine something if it was by geographical area i.e. pacific islands vs Africa.
