Not really. Obama's proposing it, so the Republicans are against it - even if they were for it for decades until the minute before Obama proposed it.

Frankly, this entire sad episode is emblematic of two things:

(1) Obama's sad and sorry desire to capitulate at every turn in order to be the "adult" in the room; and
(2) The GOP's inability to take "Yes" for an answer.

Well gee, it's not like he's embraced supply-side policies, embarked upon austerity, proposed gutting Social Security and given huge corporate giveaways. Oh, wait....that's exactly what he's done.

The more Obama governs from a "1990s Republican" worldview, the more it becomes obvious that the entirety of the GOP's objections to the Obama Presidency rest upon who he is (aka a Democrat, or for the less charitable, a non-white) rather than upon what he's done.

Pretty much, when his term is over I doubt many will remember him beyond the fact he was the first 'black' President.

Oh, I lost patience with Obama a long time ago. What sealed the deal - for me - was his utterly craven tossing of Social Security under the bus. Not even Bill Clinton - for all that the Left gripes about his time in office - touches SocSec.

Obama is trying to out right wing the Republicans, and its worked. We actually have the republicans defending the working class and a section of the public sector.

Which just goes to show if Obama turned into an ancap every Republican would outsocialize Hugo Chavez just to spite him.
Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.
The probability of one's participation in homosexual acts is directly proportional to one's public disdain and disgust for homosexuals.
If a political figure makes an accusation of wrongdoing without evidence, odds are probable that the accuser or an associate thereof has in fact committed the very same act, possibly to a worse degree.

The TVA, oddly enough operates outside of Tennessee, with the boundaries of its administration extending as far as Virginia and South Carolina.

It's not odd, it's called the "Tennessee" valley authority, not because of the state of Tennessee, but because of the Tennessee valley drainage basin of the Tennessee river, which runs through several states including the ones you mentioned. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tenne ... ershed.png

It's about time the federal government stopped spending national tax dollars for a project that benefits only the Tennessee Valley area. Job well done, Obama.

Of course, Obama is still going to appear "far-left" to every single conservative ever because he's a Democrat, but...

First, the TVA makes money, it doesn't spend it. Second, I view the TVA as a proper application of the power of government - to provide an absolutely necessary good that naturally tends toward monopolistic supply at a reasonable price.

If the TVA gets sold, you can count on electricity costs to surge in the region. And where will that money (taken from the meager pockets of the working folk of some of America's poorest States) go? Straight to Wall Street, that's where! It's ridiculous - it's almost like Obama wants to rid himself of every legacy of the Democratic Party!

The Congressional Democrats need to stand up and be counted. They need to say, loud, clear and in public: "We are Democrats, no matter what the President wants!"

Welcome to the 6 'o clock news, in recent events the Republican Party has shown support against the privatization of the TVA; and in other news, hell is reporting in a large freeze-over, it hasn't experience these conditions in years.
