Not really. Obama's proposing it, so the Republicans are against it - even if they were for it for decades until the minute before Obama proposed it.

Frankly, this entire sad episode is emblematic of two things:

(1) Obama's sad and sorry desire to capitulate at every turn in order to be the "adult" in the room; and
(2) The GOP's inability to take "Yes" for an answer.

I hold out hope that he's trolling them. Fading hope I'll admit.

Give the Republicans a few months to find energy companies willing to funnel kick backs into their super PACs and they may say yes later. You can't surprise the Republicans with what they want like this they need time to turn the privatization into election funds.

He had to know that the GOP would refuse. There is no way the congressman from Tennessee away were going to not raise a stink about this. I think the notion that he's doing this to prove a point may have some standing.

Now for the good stuff, in President Obama's latest budget proposal, he proposed selling off the TVA.

I don't think the federal government should sell it. I am biased though because of two reasons. 1) My dad works for TVA as a Foreman of a Line Crew. Hes been there 26 years and its always been a good job for him. You grow up around it, and I suppose it grows on you. 2) Here shortly, I will be going to Lineman Training down at Bellefonte and if I pass I will become employed by TVA. So it kind of worries me that if I did get a job, and it was sold, what would happen to mine and everyone else's jobs?

So what do you think NSG, should we sell the TVA, or should we keep this part of the New Deal alive and kicking?

I think the controversy has highlighted the lengths the GOP will go to to simply oppose Obama..... We need Obama to start proposing bans on same-sex marriage, so we can get it legalized in all 50 states.
