The Democratic Party hasn't had balls since the early 90s. Obama's just finding out what a pain in the ass it is to try to get anything done in Congress in modern times. I'll admit that I didn't follow the 2008 race as avidly as others, but I did keep a certain eye on it and I don't recall seeing Obama prominently displaying his testicles (figurative or otherwise).
And the health care bill isn't half-assed, it is a quite straightforward effort to shove everyone into the pocket of one insurance company or another. You think that just because your young, healthy, financially secure, look after yourself and can pay for an annual check-up out of pocket, that means you don't need an overpriced insurance policy? You think we care about your "choice"?
If you want to be charitable, you could say that the Democrats are hoping that doing so will appease the Insurance Gods and lead to lower premiums all around, but that's

As to the OP- the President hasn't lost any of the force he had on the campaign- he's just dealing with Congress now, which makes things, you know, more difficult.

I think part of the reason people think the President seems a little less forceful now is that he turned the healthcare bill totally over to the Congress to construct- trying to learn a lesson that Hillary Clinton learned the hard way in the 90's.

The man's been in office for 10 months- anyone who thinks they know how the rest of the 4 years is going to turn out is just being grandiose.

At first I was thinking this was a thread concerning The Godly Nations on II, but after reading the OP, found out different.

Anyhow, I have to agree a little because he talked a good game during the campaign but failed to deliver on the major promises he made. This does not surprise me at all, because I simply think that Barack Obama did not know how much opposition he would face once in office. Sure some of the backpedaling might've been necessary to fix the economy and all, but healthcare reform and alternative energy/energy independence are essential for the rebuilding efforts to succeed.

With that having been said, I would say that we wait and see what the next three years and two months brings, maybe he'll prove this skeptic wrong yet, and I want him to do so!
