I dare say he seems entirely capable of twisting arms without revealing himself.

But no. That sort of god would only inspire defiance in people like me.

Until he does that, I'm afraid I don't have a good reason to believe in him.

No matter how much anybody twists my arms into doing it.

Heh... I just got a mental image of God being some kinda Mafia don and his angels are the bagmen.

Not just that, but it's reasonable and, therefore, truthful.

Unlike faith.

Not that I disbelieve you, but can we have a source for that 1/3 rebelled?

Mental note, everyone: the Devil is never mentioned in the Bible, nor is he ever referred to as having rebelled against God.

Those are post-Christian machinations fabricated by the Church based off of what Jesus allegedly said about Hell, later cemented in popular culture by Divina Commedia and Paradise Lost.

Its ironic how I come from two strictly atheist parents and a very very secular household to my current position. I have embraced liberal christianity and Zen Buddhism (Buddhism is very mutable and one can be a Buddhist and practice another faith). To me, ive always beleived in god as a balancing force, a greater justice in the world and I feel the desire of humanity to personify god is what raises so much cynicism about it now.
