Benghazi hearing?

Postby Viritica » Thu May 09, 2013 6:52 pm

I'm surprised there's no thread on this forum for the Benghazi hearings in the US. Why is this? Do the majority of liberals here on NS not consider it a prevalent issue and that there was obviously no cover up? I think so. Just wondering.

What trials? There are Congressional committee hearings that are being used as an opportunity for scoringpolitical points by the Republicans, but those are not trials.

We don't see the point in continuing to discuss something that is no longer relevant. Yes, it was managed badly, that has been acknowledged, there is nothing more to discuss.
I support peace in Israel and Palestine. The governments and people in power on all sides are an absolute disgrace, and their unwillingness to pursue peace is a disservice to the people they are meant to be serving. The status quo is not simply untenable; it is unquestionably unacceptable.

The truth is this is Obama's watergate and the liberals are scared of the revelations of an executive coverup.

But no seriously, I wouldn't say it's a coverup or a "watergate." Now if Bush was president, it would obviously be both.

Hardly, more than a dozen Americans died in the course of terrorist attacks on diplomatic missions over the course of Dubya's presidency and I don't recall that ever being the scandal of the week.

Of course not, the GOP controlled the House and the Senate for 3/4 of his administration.

I demand that the Democratic legislators answer for the question of why every US consulate isn't equipped with a comically oversize bulldozer capable of squishing rioters! I further demand to know why the consulate wasn't made out of that stuff they make airplane black boxes out of, and why our ambassador had not been trained to deflect RPGs with his bare hands! Those responsible for this lack of elite ninja training for our diplomatic corps should be sent to Guantanamo!
I AM DISAPPOINTED

How about why the firefighting drones weren't sent to put out the fires whose smoke killed the ambassador?
(fact: Republican congressmen actually asked why drones weren't used to respond to the attack)

Fixed. Assuming Benghazi is the pet name of one Clinton's female staff members.

Good point.

I wonder why the Republicans haven't demanded why the PreCrime system didn't warn the ambassador.

Obviously the liberal obstructionist agenda at work. If Bush was still president we would have at least a 2:1 drone:human ratio by now.

If there's any blame to hand out over this it should be the House Republicans. They cut funding for diplomatic security teams.

It is extremely dubious that any of this reached the presidents ear, let alone within the range he could take action, before this had escalated into what it did. Even if it came down to him which I mildly put it doubt, the machine would be more than adequate to cover it up.

It is far more likely however that Hillary would have had some say during this. And so far in the hearing it is obvious that they pulled the muslim video out from nowhere to fit some kind of narrative. Though Rice's timeline will have to be established to a more thorough degree as her reaction was what put the initial faleshood shitstorm into play which I very much doubt any of the ingelligence agencies would have forwarded her.

Democrats don't want to know because it embarrasses the party, Republicans want to know because it embarrasses the democrats. Some of the democrats have used their speaking time crying out about the horror of a comittee putting members of an administration under scruitiny as if it was anti-american, but the truth in this case deserves to be heard. Though my bet is that it will all be pinned on some minor players as the other side will not accept cosinsidence as an excuse, and the democrats are far too clever to present any major hopefuls in a negative light. So far no testimony has condemmed anyone, and unless there is a whistleblower which I doubt then it will be a long, long hearing that will please neither side.
Although the stars do not speak, even in being silent they cry out. - John Calvin

Which is odd because Obama has done around 6 times more with Drones than Bush did.
