Well, it's not really "random" since it was caused by the laws of physics, though you could argue that those laws are random.

Nonetheless, there's no reason a complex system can't be random, and I think even you know that since you accompanied your rebuttal with a "meh".

Imagine this: you are randomly selected by an alien race to decide the fate of humanity. They beam you up to their nearby spaceship and tell you that a significant proportion of humanity must be exterminated. They give you a choice: eradicate all humans living in extreme poverty, or eradicate all business owners, capitalists, upper-middle class individuals and the wealthy?

I think that all the wealthy should be eradicated. They have consistently oppressed the poor and working classes throughout history, and so for revolution to take place the upper class must be destroyed! It shall be a good day when they are annihilated.

I think whole humanity can live with that, and it sounds something more for me.

I'd eradicate the poor - we live in an overpopulated world where resources are scarce and a lot of those people are already suffering.

Likewise, the business owners and capitalists - unless they are completely unchecked and unregulated - will in many cases contribute to the lessening of poverty anyway by creating jobs and a business cycle, because they'll need demand and people with the means to consume their products anyway.

In short, ridiculous thread is ridiculous.

Okay, this is such a stupid question. It's just you coming up with your communist wet dreams where you have an army of aliens to do away with people who have money.

That being said, I'm bored enough to answer JUST SUCH A QUESTION!

I would honestly rather nobody had to die. It's not like the rich got rich by being lazy, but it's not like the poor got poor by being lazy either. I suppose I would choose based on which group was most narrowly defined and smallest. And, obviously, the one that did not include me or mine. As I'm an animal motivated by self interest. If me and mine were included in neither group (sounds like people in the middle are being left alone) then yeah, I'd probably choose the smallest category or, perhaps, the most fairly defined. (E.G. If by "the rich" you were only killing off people who inherited their wealth and didn't do any work for it at all, a.k.a. the "Old Money"... I'd probably be willing to let them go as they do nothing for society that investors can't do better).

Stop. Just stop. The mods do not have magical powers to sense whenever someone invokes their name anywhere at any given time. If they see your request HERE then it means they are already looking at the thread which makes your request superfluous. Post it in Technical or don't post it. It's really just that simple. That way you don't silence discussion on a topic that, admittedly, PROBABLY is not fit to be on these forums (I won't be the judge of that) just because you THINK it isn't fit to be on the forums. Because by calling for a mod here on this thread that is what you are doing. So please, take up mod issues with the mods. Don't invoke them as a means of silencing discussion. If I were a mod I wouldn't appreciate being used by you like I'm your hammer or wrench or some other common tool.

Look... I'm going to assume that that is NOT the only reason why you want this thread locked and that you were just saying that because you thought, for whatever reason, that that would make your position more understandable. Despite all outward appearances, I have a great deal of faith in humanity and I genuinely believe that you had some higher purpose in mind when you wanted this thread to be closed. And maybe it wasn't even a genuine desire to help the NS community. Maybe you just wanted to be considered a watchdog for the community. I honestly don't know. But I will spot you this one and give you the benefit of the doubt. And it's because I think that, at your core, you did have a good intention, that I'm not really upset. I don't know that the mods have an opinion on this (so I won't pretend to know it), but in most forum communities it is generally frowned upon by the general usership to "Invoke the Mods" as it were, as a means of ending a discussion you do not approve of. Because, as I mentioned, calling for modding on the thread itself does nothing but silence discussion on the thread and make people on said thread feel uneasy and all sorts of other bad things. It is generally held that if you think mod action is warranted, you should post in whatever dedicated thread/forum/IRC/what have you that the forum community in question has dedicated to such things.

All in all, no harm done I'd say and what's past is past.

EDIT: And then I just saw you accuse me of flaming you. Again: If you think that someone, in this case myself, has broken forum rules please don't use it like some sort of Sword of Damocles (as mentioned before, this is considered bad form by the general usership of most communities); Reporting it to Moderation is probably the best course of action.
