This is kind of the problem. "Ex-girlfriend" is something that shouldn't be blown away.

In bad taste, perhaps, but not bad. If there's enough of a market for the things, tacky as they are, then they can, should, and will be purchased and used by those that are, for lack of a better term, "into that kind of thing."

Then that's something to be said about our culture. Not to say that the law should get involved in changing that.

In fairness, he also gets me new shiny things. Just not the SAME new shiny things that he already has, because that would be somewhat silly.

I cant grasp why anyone in their right mind would want one of those but I guess they have right to own them if they want and pay for them.

There's a market for zombie movies too.

I know I've seen zombie movies where a pivotal point was the girlfriend/wife/love-interest gets turned into a zombie and must be killed by her sweetheart. Either that or she kills the guy because he can't bring himself to shoot the zombie. This is usually the point in the film where onlookers will be screaming 'Shoot her in the face you dumb bastard!' and shaking their fists at the idiot on screen.

Is this target mature? I don't think so. Is it a useful way of spending money? Again, I don't think so. Are there people willing to buy it? Apparently.

I don't think we can take much deep sociopolitical messages from a shooting target modeled to look after a female zombie which in its marketing is suggested to be a hypothetical ex-girlfriend.

Besides, I think we're all missing the crucial point that those who buy and shoot this target are going to be the kind of people without any girlfriends, let alone an ex one.

I don't so much care if it's designed around an "ex girlfriend" (although obviously the implication that it's cool to shoot your ex girlfriends is fucked up), as much as I care that shit like this will de-humanise people in the eyes of a casual person who buys it. They can practice cold bloodedly killing something that looks human and not hurt anyone doing so, they can get used to it bleeding, they can get used to performing the action and they can do it legally. Eventually it will wipe out the emotion that someone might feel when putting a bullet in a living human being, since they've done the same things hundreds of times to something that looks just the same and bleeds just the same. No doubt useful for military training, but I can't see any reason for any sane human being to buy the thing. What advantages does it have over a normal target? Good luck with that "society" of your america.

That is, assuming the dolls are particularly realistic.

Once the person is dead, the shell is nothing but meat. In the case of a zombie plague, they're just a meat-puppet.
