America getting more tolerant of the LGBT community.

In the past few years there has been a growing tolerance towards the LGBT community in the United States. In 2011 the state of New York legalized same-sex marriage and Don't Ask, Don't Tell was repealed which means that LGBT people can openly serve in the United States Armed Forces. A 2011 poll showed that 53% of Americans were in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage. Since then same-sex marriage has also been legalized in Maine, Washington, Maryland, and now in Rhode Island. It has also been legalized in Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians which is a Native American Reservation in Michigan. Now a recent poll done about a couple months ago shows that 58% percent of Americans now support the legalization of same-sex marriage. The source of that poll is listed below. So what are your thoughts on the growing acceptance of the LGBT community in the United States? I think that it is a good news and huge sign of progress.

I look forward to the time when there is a large but still more or less token victory in the struggle for LGBTetc rights like same sex marriage across the country so we can argue over whether or not that settles the issue like the Civil Rights Act.

Fuck. I can't articulate this notion clear enough...a better man would try again. An even better man wouldn't hit submit with such a poorly expressed idea.

I am not a better man.

I think it's great that America is dragging itself slowly towards the finish line, huffing and puffing all the way. Many of us have already finished the race and gone home.

Well, that's more road rage against those Westboro folks.

I've given up on any hope of sanity from the House of Reps, but there does seem to be significant state-by-state progress.

I even sense that SCOTUS may be getting on board!

I like to believe that civil rights are a revolution. That revolution will never stop until everyone in the world is legally equal.

No doubt this will spell the downfall of Western civilisation or some such. Should be good fun.

Considering the Greco-Roman view of homosexuality, I doubt it.

Good. It is pathetic that in most of the US, humans are being denied one of their basic rights by bigoted and backwards people. This is a good thing, a very good thing - a clear path to progress.

So terrible that we are still working toward freedom, equality, and brotherhood, and all those other things that we have been striving for ever since we came along.
