Different people become mature at their own time. I don't think there's a standard age for it. Some mature faster than others.

indeed.

I resent that. Just because I happen to like anime and stuffed toys, like my bunny Usa-chan, doesn't mean I'm not mature. I just keep my inner child in a 24/7 party.

I have a problem with the whole fully developed vs. mature adult thing. In what sense is a person ever fully developed? physically? mentally? We continue to change throughout our adult lives so one might argue that we are not yet fully developed until we are done developing - at which point we would be dead. As for maturity, plenty of 50+ adults I know don't seem particularly mature...

Definition of "maturity" should be posted before the question could be answered. People mean different things with the word, and as pointed out before people may act (/consider themselves) mature in certain fields and immature in others. And what some people call "immature" some call "being spontaneous", for example.

So as long as the whole concept is subject to speculation and remains undefined, the whole poll is moot ;)

I would say full mental and physical maturity is reached, at the earliest, at 21 years of age on average, but I will admit that it is reached by some much later, if ever. However, I would not say someone reaches it sooner, except under the absolute most dire of circumstances.

True that. Some use "immature" as a slur to denounce opinions they don't agree with, for instance. I would personally say that one major criteria for maturity is that you have become more stable in your personal beliefs, along with increased responsibility. I would say that both of these are most likely not going to be achieved before 20. Many teenagers go through lots of phases and often lack adequate knowledge and self-insight of what they actually believe in. That said, even if you are a Communist when you are 15 just because it is "cool", you can still remain a Communist when you are 25 because you believe in its ideals.

I really think it depends. Some people at 16, others at 18, some at 20, some at 35, others never become fully mature.

Abstain entirely from drugs and alcohol, read consistently (and by that, I mean read, not whatever it is you people do with those Dan Brown novels), engage yourself with human relationships seriously enough to learn something from the experience, avoid pregnancy, and devote yourself to consistent forward progress in life--and you'll come off as "mature" by thirty-five or so. Like most descriptors, "maturity" is not something one possesses, and one is never definably "mature": it's all a matter of the being-and-becoming of "mature"--as in, living up to the running social expectation of how one that is "mature" behaves. One must consistently behave in a fashion discernible, by society, as "mature" in order to be considered as such. In that, one is perpetually being-and-becoming "mature" whilst simultaneously risking being-and-becoming "immature". It's like any other social discourse. Dig?

My experience says most people gotta get the jimmies out of their system, longer or slower, so i picked 27. Seemed like the right number on a few levels of mathematical significance, come to Tink of it.
