UKIP just can't stop saying things

Postby Souseiseki » Sun Apr 28, 2013 9:35 am

http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/20 ... k-evidence

The Ukip candidate for Kent Council Council has provoked outrage after publishing a manifesto that called for disabled foetuses to be aborted, free euthanasia for the over-80s and the deportation of 'riff-raff.'

Geoffrey Clark came under heavy criticism after insisting mothers should be forced to undergo "compulsory abortion when the foetus is detected as having Downs, Spina Bifida or similar syndrome which, if it is born, could render the child a burden on the state as well as on the family. "

Ukip have since apologised if anyone was offended by Clark's views and have suspended him from the party. However as the election ballots have already been drawn, Clark will still stand in Thursday's election.

A UK Independence Party candidate in East Sussex has denied the holocaust, claiming World War Two was engineered by Zionists hoping to create the state of Israel.

Anna-Marie Crampton is representing the eurosceptic party in Crowborough for the East Sussex County Council elections.

But, with polling day just a week away, groups have reacted angrily after a website entry in her name claimed World War Two was financed by Jewish “banksters” to make the world feel guilty.

A further comment said: “It was thanks to them that six million Jews were murdered in the war along with 26 million Russians.”

Sam Westrop, director of Stand for Peace, a leading Jewish-Muslim interfaith organisation, said: “Time after time, conspiracy and anti-Zionist sentiment is revealed to be nothing more than thinly-veiled anti-Semitism.

“UKIP, to its credit, has expelled extremist and bigoted members in the past.

“They must also expel Anna-Marie Crampton. Such hatred must be fought at all times.”

The comments were made in Ms Crampton’s name on an article titled “Was Pope Benedict fired by the Knights of Malta?” on an external website called Secrets of The Fed.

The entry said: “The Rothschilds are Zionists. There is a difference between Jews and Zionists.

“These psychopaths hide behind and use the Jews.

“It was thanks to them that six million Jews were murdered in the War along with 26 million Russians.”

'Tired of being lied to"

The Facebook account, from which the comments were made, also separately shows pictures of her wearing a party rosette while stood next to UKIP leader Nigel Farage.

Also on the profile, which claims to be verified by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg, is the statement: “I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I am a conscious, aware, critical thinker and tired of being lied to. Are you?!”

http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/10378900 ... ust_storm/

I really don't know how people can continue to vote for UKIP based on their previous record, mish mash of crappy policies and continued habit of adding to that record. To the parties small merit they do seem to try and suspend them and save face. Can't get away from the European far-right though. Unfortunately maybe the nature of the party and this sort of insanity go hand in hand?

Do you think the fact that this kind of thing keeps happening (god, 2 in one day!) reflects on the party as a whole even if they manage to "suspend" them? Should these nuts be booted? Are UKIP kinda shit? I'm sure I will shock you when I say "yes, yes and yes".
ask moderation about reading serious moderation candidates TGs without telling them about it until afterwards and/or apparently refusing to confirm/deny the exact timeline of TG reading ~~~ i hope you never sent any of the recent mods or the ones that got really close anything personal!

signature edit: confirmation has been received. they will explicitly do it before and without asking. they can look at TGs basically whenever they want so please keep this in mind when nominating people for moderator or TGing good posters/anyone!

What kind of logic can you expect when an UKIP tells you they're being forced to be racist to prove their point?

I have been wondering how the leader of a party that has no elected members of parliament, gets to be on the news more than the leaders of parties with elected mps.

people vote for these parties during times of economic hardship when the feel betrayed by the mainstream parties.

This is why I vote for the monster raving loony party.

I had the  pleasure of seeing Farage speak a few months ago. I then proceeded to interview one of the local party heads of UKIP which was rather enlightening. Their policies and arguments were shockingly poor, motivated and driven by populism and opinion polls and based on no evidence. Their rhetoric was even worse. They really irritate me beyond acceptable levels. Urgh!

Heh, I remember that.

UKIP is a joke, people just haven't realised it yet. Give it time and it will go the way the BNP did, into complete obscurity and irrelevance.

I am now going to show an example of how everyone should act whenever UKIP does something:

... Kippers. Typical.
Kosovo is Morrowind. N'wah.
Impeach Dagoth Ur, legalise Daedra worship, the Empire is theft. Nerevarine 3E 427.

Pros: Dunmeri independence, abolition of the Empire, the Daedra, Morag Tong, House Redoran, Ashlander interests, abolitionism, Dissident Priests, canonisation of St. Jiub the Cliff Racer Slayer.
Cons: Imperials, the Empire, the False Tribunal, Dagoth Ur, House Hlaalu, Imperials, the Eight Divines, "Talos", "Nords", Imperial unionism, Imperials.

I am a: Social Democrat | Bright green | Republican | Intersectional feminist | Civic nationalist | Multiculturalist

there's an article on the BBC where Farage blames the Tories for encouraging reporters to quote the things UKIP members say and the context in which they said them. Which makes them look like lunatics.
"We fought for the public good and would have enfranchised the people and secured the welfare of the whole groaning creation, if the nation had not more delighted in servitude than in freedom"

"My actions are as noble as my thoughts, That never relish’d of a base descent.I came unto your court for honour’s cause, And not to be a rebel to her state; And he that otherwise accounts of me, This sword shall prove he’s honour’s enemy."

"Wählte Ungnade, wo Gehorsam nicht Ehre brachte."

It's terrifying how many people are pro UKIP when they're even worse than the mainstream parties that caused them to go for UKIP in the first place.

I'm no fan of UKIP, but we shouldn't read too much into what these crazies say. Every party has its share of wacky candidates who slip through the vetting process. I believe the second candidate has already been disavowed by UKIP, even though it's too late to remove her UKIP ident on the ballot paper. And more broadly, from what I hear UKIP have been serious in trying to ensure ex-BNP members keep far away from their party.

However, like I said, I'm no fan of UKIP. Their biggest problem is right now they're trying to gain the support of both disillusioned Tories and working-class Labour voters. But, at their core, UKIP are more right-wing economically than even Thatcher was. Just see some of the leaked emails between UKIP figures that were published today in the papers to demonstrate that point. For now, most people don't see the contrast between their populism and their uber-Tory economic policies, but eventually it will start to be their undoing, and they'll get relegated to being a spillover for Tories too extreme for even the Conservatives.

If you can't or don't vet people properly, you're not serious about keeping them out.

Watching the Tories start to turn on them is...delicious.

yes, she starts off quite well but ends up jumping the shark pretty quickly. on the other hand, its about the level of debate Farage reserves.
