Fuck them all.

Just look at how prestigious our method of teaching people to run countries is, why, theres barely a country in the world we havn't run into the fucking ground!

If a candidate is from eton, it's an IMMEDIATE disqualification in my book.
Teaching people the same wrong ideas for centuries but making them look awfully posh doing it.

Couldn't run an empire, can't run a country, won't stop running for election.

I for one hope Britain collapses economically. Just a taste of their own sins for their imperial oppression of the past few centuries.

I'm three-quarters serious.

Wont happen. The country succeeds in spite of it's government. I expect we'll drop into the mid-tier of powers though and end up like the scandinavians.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

That "imperial oppression of the past few centuries" only really benefited the same kind of people as remain extremely rich and basically above the country's problems today, so eh.

Basically we should invade and take over Norway, and take over all their rights to drilling exploration/extraction across the North Sea, also pinch the sovereign welfare fund, then use that money to raid all of the European monarchies with a bunch of money and dodgy accounts the Germans want access to so that nobody who matters complains.

I'm not a religious man, but sometimes scriptures are a good source for insight. "The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father".

Why should present generations suffer punishment for the misdeeds and immoral practices of their forebears when they had no conceivable way to protest or stop them?

Apology accepted.

I wasn't actually serious. I've just read enough of history that anything remotely related to imperialism irritates me.

The truth is there is no magic answer, and blaming the ones in power now won't help anyone. I mean Labor is sticking to its pledge to reintroduce the 10p tax, even though the coalition have made it obsolete. and don't forget the colossal screw up that was Gordon Brown, also Labor. Both are as bad as each other.

It would be nice if we had a chancellor who can do basic math, this is why I won't be voting Labor.

Well, if they're anything like our Conservatives, it's more about hand-outs to their rich and/or ignorant backers and supporters than actually helping the economy.

I'm not doubting the necessity of some level of cutting. It's simply that the current solution is failing at the moment, yet the Conservatives don't want to admit that and try something different. Why is this?

I don't think it is failing from their point of view - quite the contrary. Admittedly, I'm no economist but I get the distinct impression this is about permanently shrinking the size of the state and shredding public services - all because, I can only assume, at root they and their ilk don't believe they should be paying taxes so some 'pleb' can get decent healthcare etc.

The effects of the 'cuts' are negligible. At the current rate of 'harsh austerity' (borrowing down 300million), it will take 402 years to eliminate the £120.6 billion deficit.
All they are doing is overspending slightly less. It's still overspending.

Raising taxes and the minimum wage was also a huge mistake.

If someone can explain why Labour are raging at Osborne for borrowing too much yet pledging to spend more if elected, it would be much appreciated.

you see, Ed Balls is incapable of basic maths, let down by our own education system.

Also, thats what the opposition does, criticize the failings of government until they get into power, only to make things worse.
