This is an interesting aspect; sort of a self-perpetuating paradigm. There is this common notion in the conservative camp that jews do get special treatment, which I personally think is true in mediocre amounts and under very specific circumstances. However, by how often this accusation gets repeated, a substantial part of society forms to speak up against the accusation. The perpetuation of this argument alone makes Jews special in public discourse, and through the "jew-supporting" participants of the discourse, Jews do get a special treatment, i.e. in this case, the fact that someone instantly came to the defense particularly of the Jews.

This is not an accusation, just an interesting observation on human culture, in a way.

Growing up in NZ, my father was quite racist towards Maori and Pacific Islanders (my mother tended to cringe a bit whenever he got overheated, but I don't recall her ever actually challenging him on any of it).

Unfortunately where I lived for primary school, there was only one Maori family in the whole area, and their eldest son was an utterly vicious thug (4 years older than me), who almost hospitalised me one day because my older brother had made a smart-ass comment to him earlier that day.

So prior to high school, I unquestioningly shared my father's views.

Then in high school, suddenly a quarter of the kids around me were Maori or Pacific Islander.
It quickly became impossible for me not to start challenging my father's ideas, mainly because I was interacting with these kids in class every day, and they were overall no better or worse than the white kids. I certainly got beaten up far more often by white kids.

I was about 14 when my father's crap became so transparent I couldn't ignore it any more. A Samoan family bought the house next to us, and he would curse and swear about them at length, even though they were always friendly and polite, and not one of them ever caused the slightest bit of trouble.
Of course he was always civil when speaking to their faces, so the double-standard just became more and more obvious.

Well said. My reasoning was too short and circular, and then you explained it.

Used to be racists against JEWS. (I was fooled by some Nazi propaganda few years ago) I thought the jews were subhuman, and they didn't deserve to be rich. I also thought that communism and capitalism both sucked. I have changed alot since then. The jews did nothing wrong. Communism was actually a good idea. Apologies to the Jews:
I'm very sorry.

It's actually vice versa for me.

I used to be a naive social democrat and actually even advocated "multicultural" policies in Europe untill, well i visited France in 2010 and i saw it myself first hand that the idea didnt work out as intended.
But i'm not a racist though,though i have a dislike for certain ethnicities. I'm a pan-European nationalist.

This is propably extremely country-specific. Speaking for Germany, out of "historical guilt", there have been innumerable instances of Israel as a country, and the Jewish community inside Germany, getting "special treatment". Israel has received a batch of German military submarines as a gift for example. I do not agree with Israel's policy in the middle east, to put it mildly. While I do acknowledge that this isn't, and should not be, the topic of this thread, it does make for a good example on how affirmative action towards certain groups gets in the way of sane policy decisions. If you would not donate submarines to a certain nation or group for any rational reason, then doing it because of historical associations will not make the decision to do so any smarter.

EDIT: Of course, I do not blame the Jews for the sillyness of German politicians, much less do I hate them on any other grounds.

I don't think the subs were a gift. I do know you sell your beer to us with reduced taxes, so thanks for giving me a tastier alternative at the pub.

A thread about racism as a whole is slowly turning into a pro-jewish, thread about anti-semitism. As if the jewish people were the only people victim of racism and genocide.
I saw it coming and that justifies my entire point, so that´s why I´m out of here.

Racism against Jewish people is one of the worst mistakes of the human race. They did nothing wrong, yet they faced people who did everything wrong and blamed it on them. So, yeah, I see why most people used to be racist against the jews.

A thread about FORMER racism, and why people abandoned such ideas.

Come on NSG, let's try to stay slightly on topic.

Jews have been vilified from a lot of nations through out history and not for religious extremism as they are a religious and ethnic group but always for usury and deception.
Same thing in Germany, do you think that the anti-semitism was initiated by Hitler? No, anti-semitism was prevalent during the whole Weimar period, same thing in other European countries at that time and before that.
It is wrong to say that anti-semitism is unfounded but its also wrong to say that every single jew meets these characteristics and should be discriminated against or whatnot.
Also, 'human' is a species, not a race.

I got to know people of other races, and they changed my mind - but not in the way they changed yours. I grew up in an all-white neighbourhood and went to all-white schools, and at the end of the day I was a fanatical multiculturalist. Then I went to university, and for the first time in my life I came across large groups of 'minorities' in public transport and on the campus, and now I consider myself a white nationalist. I don't want to pay for these people, and I don't want them living near me. Of all dozens I've had to speak to so far, exactly none were even remotely friendly, and all were rude.

I am not racist.

I have some racialist-style views, but I definitely don't believe that there is a "hierarchy" of "races" or "ethnic groups".

Different is different, but not necessarily better or worse.

Guess you'd better find another planet to live on, because they aren't going anywhere. White nationalism is suffering a slow, agonizing death.

I hope you can deal with watching everything you believe in die around you, because it seems that some racists have trouble with that.

All Mexicans? The white ones, the ones descended from American Indians, the immigrants who hold citizenship?

Not another planet, but I'm seriously considering to migrate away from this multicultural hellhole.
Let the jackals have whatever's left, and the government tax itself into oblivion, and the dependents starve, and I'll be high and dry.

Actually, across Europe, it's making a rather rapid rise in popularity. Which is obvious.
