Nobody backs up any major Libertarian candidate long enough to run for any major office.

Ron Paul doesnt count?

Well there's Paul, yes, but he's probably not going to go much farther than he's already gotten.

These people are like children. Give them attention, and they'll act out even more.

Bu..bu...but we have to THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

Sure, they don't know as much as adults, but they should be treated as such--unless it involves vajayjays or pee-pees, of course.

Even though the argument was poorly executed, it is true that rational debate is coming to an end because of name calling, Democrats throw around "racist" like Republicans did "unpatriotic" after 9/11 (see: Janeane Garofalo, Jimmy Carter, so on), but luckily Obama and most congressional democrats keep it out of the important places.

It's true that the Republican party is heading down a hard road, where the tea party protesters and hardcore Republicans are fighting centrist and moderate Republicans are beginning to marginalize each other (see: NY-23, where hardcore Reps pushed out the liberal Republican, since getting that taste of power they've targetted more conservative moderates), I think the radical right-wing will splinter from the Republican party into a party like the "Conservative Party", weaken them both, and push the U.S. to deal with a dominant-party system.

But from a nuetral point of view I feel that the Democrats are just as bad. Sure the republicans may yell "I object" when Democrats talk but Democrats yell "Racist" whenever Republicans try to argue with them.

Or when, you know... They say racists stuff. Seriously, im not american but theres no freaking comparison. The republican party is full of crazies. Ron Paul was probably the most sensible candidate they had, and many people consider him an ideolog.

Yes, because there are oh so reasonable comebacks to republican accusations that Obama is implementing a Nazi-esque Population Control Systems through Nationalized "Death Panels", outlawing Christian Religion, rejecting free speech and executing gun-owners, and making Islam the national religion...

Coming back with "bigot" and "racist" is generally quite mild to what the truth would be....

In fact: I've come of the opinion that Republicans somehow live in this weird parallel dimension, and for some reason we can have some sort of partial interaction with them in that alternate reality they live in.... Where in this alternate reality the dude standing outside of the meeting hall carrying a loaded weapon is actually being denied his right to bear arms, and there are armies of grey-shirted Obama-goons rounding up Republican Grandmothers and executing them in mass....

Either that, or the lot of them forgot to take their meds.... (or the meds got rejected by their private insurance companies...)

The fact that one sound beating caused their collapse is astonishing.

It's a shame. Not because I believe in their views but because I believe that democracy can only truly work when their is a viable opposition. To have multiple viewpoints, ideals and theories debated and weighed on merit. When one of the sides fails to take part or when all sides appear so similar as to be indistinguishable, then that is a sign of failure of the system.
