That's a little sad.

I also used to like building forts out of wooden blocks, manning them with plastic soldiers and then flicking marbles at the until everyone was "dead". *wonders there the box of blocks is*

I'm casting another vote for "When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up".

I've got teeny kids, and I'm not about to tell them I'm too grown up to build a fort in the front room, or drive toy cars round the walls, or stage a war between the Pokemon and the Bakugon any time soon.

Airfix wasn't that productive when I was a kid, the models tended to end up being stiffed with toilet roll, lit, and then launced from my bedroom window.

I watched The Battle Of Britain too many times while young and impressionable.

As a child I liked to read comics. I quit when I went to college because they were "childish". Then, one day coming home from working overtime on Saturday, I happened to pass a comics shop, stopped in and came out with an armload. I enjoyed them for several more years. I quit again, but not because they were childish, just because the quality went down, and I didn't have room to put them anymore.

Also, I loved playing outside. I'd walk someplace I'd never been and pretend that I was an explorer, travelling where nobody had ever set foot. I don't have nearly as much time to walk these days (phooey on 11+ hour job + commutes), and most of my walks are in familiar areas, but on the rare occasions I DO get to walk off the beaten path, I still remember playing explorer.

i watch comic book movies, occasionally read one or two. I play DnD, Magic The Gathering, I am a huge fan of computer and board games. I dress up and go to Medieval fairs; I play tag outside with the 5 year old neighbor kid when nobody else is outside to play with him. I wrestle on the floor with my dogs, snuggle my kitty, and I STILL get a kick out of movies like Labyrinth for the same reasons I did when I was five. I'm all growed up! :)

But Dark Crystal doesn't have David Bowie as the evil King of the Goblins.

Or such a kickass sound track

I own both, but Dark Crystal lacks the philosophical depth of Labyrinth, or the extraordinarily layered script. And no, I'm not kidding.

Just bought a Duplo Lego set for my 1 1/2 year old. She upsets me because she doesn't like to put them together but likes to take apart what I've created. I've told on her to her mother but so far nothing is being done about it. Perhaps I should take this to NS Moderation.

Since she's comparatively new, we'd only be able to give her an unofficial warning. If you don't want to play with one another, you can just put each other on ignore. (Although that doesn't usually happen until they hit 14 or so.)

I loved Duplos when I was little! Now I've moved on to Legos and the Duplos have been sold, but occasionally I find the box of wooden blocks and start building a castle or fort like in the old days.
