Alright, here is what happened according to local news. Two dead, around thirty missing limbs, three explosion, one at JFK, two near the finish line. Two more were found and deactivated, another one blown up by the Bomb Squad. No fly zone over that part of the city, and they are encouraging people to not use cellphones.

No, bombs just go off in America frequently, probably a construction worker accidentally leaving his work-kit full of explosives by the finish line armed. It couldn't be on purpose, could it? What human being would be insane enough or cruel enough to attack innocent people, right?

That was a post made seconds after the news was first being reported on the BBC, when the aerial shots seemed to show literally one or two casualties on stretchers, at a point in which it could have been a gas explosion from the hotel.

We've since learnt that was not the case.

1) get away from the bombs
2) phone and tell your family you did not die from bombs

I'm confused by your use of 'overreact', especially with your background.
In a place where everything can conceal a bomb, it becomes a credible threat that they do indeed conceal bombs.
