Does anyone ever say that second-hand smoke is anything more than harmful? As opposed to, you know, lethal?

What doesn't kill you probably doesn't make you stronger.

In the context of physical health, not psychological.

the most important change in society was that even smokers started to admit it is a bad habit, and it is anti social. The more worrying thing is the obesity crisis. Or the high possibility of a highly virulent virus killing 1% of the worlds population.

And very true! Which is why no one advocates allowing smoking in enclosed areas.

I don't care if people smoke, but don't do it near doorways or restrooms. It's extremely annoying and smells awful.

Generally if people feel the need to smoke when I'm around I'm gone before they finish lighting the cigarette. I really despise being around it.

I'm asthmatic, and as long as im not locked in a room with a lit cigarette, I'm fine.

I'm not paranoid about it but I don't like being around it, and hate it when strangers light up when standing right next you... here's the key: without asking if its ok.

When a smoker asks me if its ok for them to light up near me, I will say yes, because I appreciate their courtesy.

Quite honestly, I do not like or appreciate smoking anywhere. But, this isn't a dictatorship, so everyone's voice must be heard, and the majority seems to come to the agreement that smoking should just be banned in public places, like restaurants, which I can live with.

I agree with it as-well, after all people have the right to breathe clean "public" air more than smokers have the right to lower the life expectancy of everyone around them...

I smoke. I always try to never blow smoke in the general direction of anyone, but it doesn't always work out. Nevertheless, it'd be a big deal to tell smokers that they're only allowed to smoke on private property. Many may not have access to private property on which they can smoke during the workday, for example.
In the case of the US, it might be best to do it by state. Way more people smoke in places like Alabama and Georgia than in Connecticut and Minnesota.
But I'd be opposed to any sort of further outlawing of cigarettes. I say public property ought to be fair game.

First off, "chemicals" are not always bad.

Secondly, smoking can directly benefit smokers, so.

The restriction in personal freedom is not warranted by the minute to nonexistent benefit in public health.
