Does fast food chain where you live serve local menu?

I remember the McDonalds in Korea would serve bulgogi burgers, and the burgers there were a lot smaller than the ones here in America. They also tasted better, imo. It was like marinated Korean bbq made into a burger patty I think instead of a regular old burger patty.

Makudo in Japan (that's the proper Osaka rendering of McDonalds) had some occassional good seasonal burgers, but their US "regional style ones were horrid.

MOS Burger (local J chain - yep, pronounced the same as "moss") had the good stuff - "rice burgers". They're made using pressed rice for a bun and the ingredients included wonderful stuff like yakiniku.

I live in the US now and I guess I understand now what you mean. Local menu is pretty much standard menu for fast foods in the US. But in other countries, the tune is different. I know that, for example, in India, McDonalds has a vegetarian menu tailored to the diet of many Hindu, who are vegetarians. In Japan, I've heard McDonalds menu is also quite tailored to the locals's taste in that it serves sea food and I've heard of wasabi burgers.

Which reminds me of something which really annoyed me - why do McDonald's in New Zealand have a "Tastes of America" going, as if the USA is some exotic country who's food differs greatly to regular McDonald's. It makes no sense to me. McDonald's is the quintessential American food.

All of those are fairly bad too.

The NZ McDonald's ice-cream is far superior (to my mind) than the Australian version but it's still not very good.

Not sure which milkshake I prefer... maybe the Australian one but it's been so long (two years and a bit, Jan 2011).

That said, no-one can get away with selling a roast meal without kumara and actually having steak not mince in steak pies (damn QLD bakeries).

If I'm not wrong only McDonalds offered an "Italia-Hamburger", the "Ciociaro" and a Gianduia McFlurry... but only because I've seen it on TV (the last time I went to McDonalds I was 8, so...), here where I live the local McDonalds is almost empty 24/7 (and I say: HOORAY! )

As far as I know, every major fast food chain in my area only serve the standard menu. There is a place called Rick's BBQ that serves southern style food, like biscuits and chocolate gravy, green beans and mashed potatoes, and fried chicken. Gotta love the South, its full of heart attack inducing food stuffs.
