I'll echo Dai about Makudonarudo, their seasonals are good, their US state burgers were just... odd.
I DO like their shrimp burger though and love the corn soup in the winter.

I can barely choose between a bacon and gorgonzola burger or a swiss cheese and mushroom burger as my favorite burgers ... I can't imagine having more choices...

My personal fave was the "tsukimi burger", a burger with "fried egg". Tsuki = moon, mi = see/veiw. Tsukimi is thus moon viewing, a fall harvest moon type festival/event. The fried egg sort of looks like the moon. See: http://loneleeplanet.com/2010/11/tsukimi-burger/

Speaking of which, we currently have McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Denny's, Burger King, Wendy's, KFC and Carl Jr's in NZ, the latter only entered this year. Want to try.
Edit: Forgot Subway and Dunkin' Donuts.

OK, so that excludes all the other sorts, meaning that it is local.
Now, do you want to narrow it down to what sort of chili dogs, or has the point been taken?
Chili dogs are quite Californian. Well, Southern Californian. But still within my state, so therefore: local.
And these Chili dogs are done "Tommy's style" (Tommy's is a restaurant chain in Los Angeles that is famous for their chili).
The mustard dog on the other hand is common throughout the country.

ICly Radiatia has this.
OOCly there are things like the Kiwiburger at McDonalds.
Which reminds me of something which really annoyed me - why do McDonald's in New Zealand have a "Tastes of America" going, as if the USA is some exotic country who's food differs greatly to regular McDonald's. It makes no sense to me. McDonald's is the quintessential American food.
