Smoking tea leaves; possible/desirable?

Postby Tokos » Fri Nov 06, 2009 6:46 pm

I've often thought it would be a fine thing to put the contents of a quality teabag in a pipe and smoke it. Does anyone have any experience with this? It sounds like a good idea on paper…

Smoking random things sounds like a great idea, if your intention is to end up in hospital.

I don't smoke, I just thought it would be neat. It's not a random thing, it's tea. I'm absorbing lovely tea into my system right now, I can't see how it being burnt would kill me or what have you.

The concept of smoking tea in a pipe is like the square root of the Edwardian era or something.

From a quick google search, you're not the first person to ask, but (and no offense), most of the others asking seem to be complete idiots.

Tea without sugar is nasty... so I would think smoking tea leaves would be rather disgusting too.

There's also the simple fact that you're smoking random shit. That can get you hospitalised...

I know a guy with a pipe. I may get him drunk and suggest it to him, and report any results. ;)

I find sugary tea to taste like the milk's gone off or something.

A friend of mine did that for a while. Nothing bad happened to him and he said it tasted nice. Never done it myself though.

The smoke from tea leaves is most assuredly not the same as tea.

Heh, well I wouldn't know. Also, I've only had actual tea a few times. I usually just boil yerba buena and add sugar. :meh:

I actually rather hate most teas, with the exception of Green Tea and Lemon-Tea...

Making me somewhat odd around here, :lol2:

Put a packet of sugar in the pipe with your tea leaves? And while you're at it, add some potassium permanganate (NOTE: Actually, do not do this. Ever. It would be bad. If you must do this, don't do it near your face).

I smoked Rosemary once. Somebody said it gets you high. It gets you a very pleasant smelling sore throat. I was 13. I'm 30 now and just stopped coughing a few minutes ago. The moral of the story is that if you think it is a good idea to smoke something that you find in your pantry then you should smoke it. If it doesn't work, you should try it again because obviously you were smoking it wrong. If it doesn't work the third time then it is unsmokable. Throw this item in the garbage. It is useless. At this point, you would be wise to drink something that smells of pine found beneath your sink. If you cannot find something which smells of pine beneath your sink try to find something that smells like a Season of the year or a Jolly Rancher. That will get you drunk enough that you won't feel your throat anymore. Bonus points if your throat actually dissolves.
"My loathings are simple: stupidity, oppression, crime, cruelty, soft music."
- Vladimir Nabokov US (1899 - 1977)
Also, me.
“Man has such a predilection for systems and abstract deductions that he is ready to distort the truth intentionally, he is ready to deny the evidence of his senses only to justify his logic”

"All Clock Faces Are Wrong." - Gene Ray, Prophet(?) http://www.timecube.com
A simplified maxim on the subject states "An atheist would say, 'I don't believe God exists'; an agnostic would say, 'I don't know whether or not God exists'; and an ignostic would say, 'I don't know what you mean when you say, "God exists" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignosticism

Tea? Earl Grey. Hot.

I fancy Twinnings. If it's been commissioned by Her Majesty, it's good enough for me. Two lumps for me.

When I was a teenager we tried smoking cloves and such until we just figured-out how to have someone get us proper cigarettes. Let me tell you -- tobacco cigarettes are much better for you than cloves, tea, or any other kitchen implement.
