The 1920's is not the remote past, and either way, the fact that women only got the right to vote so recently is ridiculous.

It is ridiculous women got the vote only within the previous Century. It is also ridiculous that in many developed countries, a woman cannot legally commit rape against an adult male, or another adult female, I believe. Certainly in the UK, where the most recent Sexual Offences Act defines "rape" as "penetration by force," rather than both "penetration by force" or "forced to penetrate."

I'm far from an expert on UK law, so I'll defer to them, but a quick bit of research suggests that while the definition of rape is indeed pretty badly written, it appears that there are similarly serious offenses that a woman can absolutely commit against a man; they are simply not called "rape." Is this accurate?

The phrase is a problem too. The mass-use of the phrase is as a result of feminist campaigning and has actively fucked over male victims of violence, as well as perpetuated sexist views of women.
