You people keep mentioning that person as if he were famous outside the USA. Nope. So I guess that explains why that was so strange and seemingly disjointed.

Now we've done it, we couldn't leave well enough alone and allow him to pretend to pretend not to care, but now we get to sit through him protesting too much about how much and to what degree he doesn't care...

What are you on about? I said I didn't get it and since there was no explanation someone mentioned what it was alluding to, and I then understood why I didn't get it and that was that. If I didn't care, I would have stated so. In fact, I tend to find Stewart funny, so I was a bit surprised not to laugh a single time at any of that.

But, don't let that stand in your way of being whatever it is you were trying to be. I'd guess butthurt.

You people? Racist. :p

Trust me. I wish I had no idea who he was.

Anyway, plenty of non-USians on NSG seem to know who he is and you are even posting quite a bit on that Beck/PETA thread that was started by a non-USian.

Beck will be going worldwide soon because Rupert Murdoch makes a lot of money off of his controversiality, so enjoy the rewards of that US export. 8)

I assure you, Canadians and Britons who for some strange reason hold a deep fascination with USA daily media are not very representative. And I post in that thread not because of this Beck person, but because of the subject which wasn't about him at all. It could as well been Susan Lucci who said it.

Uhm, hate to break it to you, but Fox News is a satellite channel here. Very, very few have access to it. And it's not in any of the basic or even extended cable offerings that I am aware of.

What was happening in the clip was mentioned five times before you posted, there have been several threads on the man, including one on the front page at this moment...and there was something else, what was it...if only there was some tool that people could use to look up information on the internet...oh right.

But then, it wouldn't give you an opportunity for the Fass Classic, then, would it?

None of which explains the funny of the joke. See, sweety, it's a bit like if I were to do a hilarious parody of a Swedish celebrity, not say much about him/her apart from perhaps the name, and then expect you to get funny of my parody. I still don't understand what the clip was about, apart from something about the Beck person.

And I'm not sorry to disappoint, but threads about people here doesn't make them well known or drive me to automatically google them and consume media about them.
But then, it wouldn't give you an opportunity for the Fass Classic, then, would it?

I was right. Butthurt. Which would seem to have something to do with the Beck person, as haemorrhoids were mentioned, so it is fitting, I'll grant your sore hiney that.

Che Guevara is in my colon? Oh dear. I hope he doesn't do anything drastic, I quite like the current regime down there. I mean, it might not be the most efficient or speedy organ in the world, but it gets the job done without any bloodshed. That's an important thing, for a colon.

You're not missing much. It's John Stewart, he mentions the Beck person and there's something about appendicitis and anal problems, and then it just goes bizarre and he jumps around, pretends to cry, holds a diatribe on internal organs and history of medicine. It's very disjointed and all over the place, seemingly random and unattached. And it's 8 minutes long and goes on and on with long interspersed faux-dramatic pauses. Save yourself the time.

Well, yes. That is how parody works. If you start deliberately telling people, "This is just like that scene from Star Wars where Darth Vader tells Luke, "I am your father." That's explaining the joke; it is patronizing, boring and unfunny.
If something is parodied or referenced, and you don't get it, then it obviously wasn't aimed at you. That's no fault of anyone, you just need to grow up a little and move on. Or you could research the thing being referenced, but by this point you've already missed the initial surprise so it is rather pointless.

I don't blame anyone who would rather not deal with/be conscious of the majority of US media/products. I'd pay as little attention as possible if I weren't subjected to daily doses of the stupid from loyal Beckbots. He started the 9/12 Project and got the Tea Party jerk offs (about 70,000 of them) to march on Washington DC to voice their opposition to Obama's Communist Takeover.

If you care to see the Tea Party idiots get interviewed at the march and display their complete lack of intelligence so you can get an idea of the wall of stupid being built by Beck to block all progressive traffic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUPMjC9mq5Y. If you are interested... for a bit of contrast, there was recently a GLBT march on Washington DC where the same guy interviewed those marchers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8_TupqsfPU

Regarding the Tea Bagger march on DC,it was a "grass roots" movement made up and promoted by Fox News.

That thread isn't directly about Beck but there's information in that thread about Beck and a clip of Beck in the OP. So, although you are better off remaining ignorant of all things Beck, had you watched the clip where beck calls for Gore to become a vegetarian, you'd have gotten a taste of the greatest American hero that ever walked the face of the earth (according to Beckbots). It's not unreasonable to think that you might have seen the clip, before responding in that thread.

People watch this... drama queen... whose acting skills could only be rivalled by Jenny McCarthy as something other than already a parody? To think Obama gave people here hope of a cultural improvement.

You just gave the perfect description of Glen Beck.

It's funny, if you are familiar with the material he's parodying - but, like most parody, it's not likely to resonate if you don't 'get' the reference.
