What?
Are you implying that not all felonies are the same? And that perhaps in some (non-violent say?) cases gun rights should not be revoked?

Apparently not many.
Really? you honestly believe that most people here haven't heard of a pardon?
Or is the more likely scenario that most people don't waste energy discussing something that, while technically an option, virtually never happens?
Did you really just make this post in some vein effort to have a chance to go "I know something you don't know, nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah" under the bizarre that because most people don't feel the need to waste time by pointing out that while yes, pardons and clemency do exist, they're not worth discussing in any meaningful sense because their success rate is virtually nonexitent, this means that you hold some special secret knowledge that the dirty plebs don't?
How infantile.

2) The NRA really isn't helping its PR by doing dumb things that everyone hates.
Care to elaborate on these ''dumb things that everyone hates'' you mentioned? Because last time I checked alot of people DONT want anymore gun control and supporting your rights isnt dumb.

I was driving a tractor trailer at the time, where you're not allowed to carry firearms.
The yard was fenced, with barbed wire, they had an armed guard on the roof next door with a rifle, and they told me not to leave the yard.
Truckers are not allowed to carry guns?

New Orleans judge rules statute forbidding felons from having firearms unconstitutional after 'fundamental right' amendment
This is not a thread about gun control. What it is about is just how indifferent the NRA is to reality in its dedication to pushing gun sales as high as possible. The Maddow segment on this incident was more detailed and if it ever gets posted online I'll probably edit a link to it, but it mentioned that not only Lousiana Governor Bobby Jindal claimed he had no idea that the amendment would allow felons to own guns after championing it, but a few other states have identical proposals being pushed. Still, the NRA is becoming less and less of a responsible mouthpiece for pro-gun arguments, yet it's allowed to continue being the largest and loudest.
In the meantime, prosecutions of felons in possession of a firearm will continue on, said Chris Bowman, spokesman for Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro.

In jurisdictions where people are not allowed to carry guns yeah, truckers can not carry guns.
There is a love federal law allowing transportation through states with gun restrictions if the origin and destination are states that allow that firearm. However, the weapon has to be out of reach and the ammo and gun must be stored in separate containers.
Now if interstates were controlled by the federal government things might be different, but states' power groups wanted management and jurisdiction of highways to be a state affair.

If you committed a white collar crime and donated a lot to the governor's campaign pardons are not so hard to get. It does not work for the President, but most of your felons are state criminals.

I did not mention pardons. I mentioned a petition for the reinstatement of rights. Like Neo art posted: a rear occurrence that they would be granted.

The problem with that is your still a felon, so why the state has restored your rights as far as it is concerned federal law preventing felon ownership of firearms would still be in effect.
Also the petition is a statutory construction of each state, and most of the ones I have read specifically exclude restoration of gun ownership rights.
Mr. Art is right, you would most likely need a pardon to regain your right to bear arms.
