Wouldn't this turn into a "who's the most well-known NSG poster" contest real fast? What chance would new users have against people who've been here for years and who are well-liked and accepted?

There was an NSG parliament before?

Learn something new every day.

Also, I support this idea with reservations.

So I'm glad everyone's interested, but does anyone have particular suggestions about how it could work? I've already been planning out a simple and easy framework for the senate, but I'm open to suggestions.

I hadn't planned for it to be an election simulation... I was more thinking a legislative simulation.

Well I suppose in an environment where a lack of good looking clothes or attractive features is present, popularity is created through individual's qualities that should be noted in a senate of sorts...

I don't know I'm not popular by any means, nor old enough to be wise...

Why not make a two post a day limit? And perhaps a word count limit. This will give people one proposal and one rebuttal per-day and thus reduce the popularity contest thing. So, instead of the Senate it's more of a House of Representatives style experience.

But an individual's qualities are only noted after you've been here long enough for them to be noticed by other people. I don't know, I was just thinking if this was implemented every nation on it would be a Post-Master General or would have been here for more than 3 years...

Simple, you implement a roman system and make me eternal dictator.

Actually if the Senate appointed the a dictator it was his duty to step down after a year. Julius Caesar was the only person to be appointed to dictator for life, and that simple because he wanted to work with the senate for the advancement of Rome.

The problem there is I'm doubtful you'd get a massive amount of posters with that large of a post count, or be around that long, as a Senate often implies a rather larger number to represent the various ideas of NSG...

I suppose I shall march on Rome with eight legions to depose you and save the Republic. Of course, they'll need more fabulous uniforms first...
