Well FINALLY!

Postby NERVUN » Fri Nov 06, 2009 12:38 am

Remember that South Korean woman who took her driving test some 800 times? She finally passed!

SKorean woman passes driver's exam on 950th try

Thursday, November 5, 2009

(11-05) 21:20 PST SEOUL, South Korea (AP) --

A woman in South Korea who tried to pass the written exam for a driver's license with near-daily attempts since April 2005 has finally succeeded on her 950th time.

The aspiring driver spent more than 5 million won ($4,200) in application fees, but until now had failed to score the minimum 60 out of a possible 100 points needed to get behind the wheel for a driving test.

Cha Sa-soon, 68, finally passed the written exam with a score of 60 on Wednesday, said Choi Young-chul, a police official at the drivers' license agency in Jeonju, 130 miles (210 kilometers) south of Seoul.

Police said Cha took the test hundreds of times, but had no specific total. Local media said she took the test 950 times.

Now she must pass a driving test before getting her license, Choi said.

Repeated calls to Cha seeking comment went unanswered. She told the Korea Times newspaper she needed the license for her vegetable-selling business.

Yes.

To be honest, if someone's failed something 949 times, I'm just not sure I'd grant anything despite success on the 950th attempt.

I mean, statistically it could almost be pure luck.

To be fair, there might be reasons for failing, she may have very poor reading skills, be partly blind, entirely stupid.

None of which make you feel any safer about her being on the road but still..

Wanking... taking a shit... the list is endless.

I probably wouldn't take an exam 950 times. But then I don't have a vegetable business.

Quite.

Anyway, the exam fees are waaayyy too low. Here in Italy we pay 600 € minimum for two attempts at the written exam. Fail both, pay again. Btw, and you have to pass both written and practice within 6 months.

Do any of us know how there driving test works? For example, if its ten thousand questions randomly selected from 1 billion, then trying to pass just by taking the test over and over would concivibly take that many times.

The point of the test is to study the rules of the road so you understand them before getting behind the wheel. People shouldn't just go and attempt the test, though I know many do hence one of the reasons we have some terrible drivers and get TV shows like 'Canada's worst driver'.

I had me a laugh at this one. Damn, that much time put into passing the written test? She may have a problem when she gets behind the wheel... I mean shouldn't there maybe be a clause like " you have failed so epically that we place a permanent BAN on your ever driving a car?"
