I've been away from home for a few years (from Halifax, posted to Edmonton). When I was there the weather changed every 5 mins, you never know what it was doing.

I also lived there for both Hurricane Juan and White Juan. Largest snow fall ever recorded for the area. Lovely times. No power for a week.

Did you read the OP?

Yes, I did. Did you follow the news lately?

The OP isn't telling about 'why' Americans should move to Canada.

But in 'my' news, the main reason why some Americans make a lot of noise is about healthcare. We even have a permanent thread on top of this forum about this specific issue.

Of course, it takes some calculations and consults with experts to make the correlation.

Not all conflicts are the same. Not all conflicts are worth it. Sometimes you gotta stand up for yourself (by protecting whats yours). Sometimes, you gotta stand up for yourself as well (by not wasting your time and betraying yourself).

It's HK... What do you think?

That I wasted a few dozen keystrokes with that question?

You can do that in 12 keystrokes?

:p

She said a few dozen...
That would mean that it took her 24-36 keystrokes to type 20 characters...
(granted that's better than I am doing tonight, but still...)

Back on topic, I already live here (though I am not gay) and I have to say, even though we have our faults (*Cough*Harpertron and the Cons*Cough*), it is a very nice place to live, and I'd recommend it to anyone that doesn't mind the weather and the mosquitoes.

In like tongue, I urge NMG to COME ON DOWN TO AUSTRALIA!

We have free healthcare for citizens, civil unions for gays, and ... FLIES AND MOSQUITOES AT THE SAME TIME!

Er ... also Kangaroos punch you in the face on Main Street, and walk away scot-free (protected species) and really really dangerous and aggressive snakes and spiders ... er, and me, who hates NMG's guts for reasons I can't quite remember.

The self that is you...

yourself
Main Entry: your·self
Pronunciation: \yər-ˈself, Southern also -ˈsef\
Function: pronoun
Date: 14th century

1 a : that identical one that is you —used reflexively <you might hurt yourself>, for emphasis <carry them yourself>, or in absolute constructions b : your normal, healthy, or sane condition or self <you haven't been yourself lately>
2 : oneself

That doesn't help. What does "standing up for oneself" and not "betraying oneself" consist of?

Do you know what LGBT stands for?

I do.

It's an abbreviated anagram for Lesbian Gay Bi Transexual Queer Curious Anti-Gender Gender-skeptic Crypto-straight LGBT-Conscious Universal Community of Folks who Ain't Straight.

I think I might have joined it once. Or perhaps that really was a skanky chick, and she scammed me out of ten bucks.

you either stand up for yourself or you end up walking all over yourself.

and if you betray yourself, then you're basically stabbing yourself in the back or shooting yourself in the foot. if you're prone to doing either... then I wouldn't turn your back to yourself. ;)

non lgbt. though about moving all my life. at my age and uselessness i doubt if they'd want me.

but i guess it IS still a thought. benign strangeness will put me where it needs me though, which for now, seems to be where i am.
truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.

Initially I thought it stood for Lunatic Goofballs Butt Too or something :)

That is an awesome pic.

Also, me.
