I was raised Catholic. Gradually between the ages of 12 and 14, roughly, I began to ask myself why I continued to accept that God existed as I was taught. I found no reason to worship the God I had been taught about, nor a reason to even believe He exists. Things have stayed that way ever since.

19 or 20. I was never very religious. I'd been to church maybe 5 times in my life and never with my own family. (Friends' families only.) It wasn't that much of a leap to agnostic.

I probably had just turned twelve when I started questioning my Catholic faith. Now I'm an ardent atheist.

I chuckle to myself when I remember the following story.

Once when I was in the fifth grade (I believe) a friend of mine asked me if I thought The Golden Compass was worth the person's time to see. I promptly replied something along the lines of, "Ugh, don't see that movie. An atheist wrote it."

I was raised Christian and first questioned religion at age 14. A few months later I became an Atheist. When I turned 16 I, not harboring the same anti-religious sentiments and leftist political views that many other Atheists seem to have became frustrated once again and converted to Agnosticism. I have remained as such ever since then.

Being an Atheist is simply to not believe in a god, the way I have understood it. But yeah, the obnoxious left-wing Atheists that rant on about how religion is responsible for every single "bad" thing that has occurred throughout history pisses me off too. Ironically they seem to hold the very same belief as Christians: That humans are inherently some sort of pussy pacifists.

That's not the case (usually) for even explicit atheists. Most atheists are implicit (such as myself) and that implies that we lack a belief in a god or gods, which is not the same thing as denying the existent of a god or gods.

This cracked me up, thanks. :) I never take the claim that "religion is responsible for all the world's ills" very seriously. And whenever I hear it, I immediately think about that episode of South Park when Cartman goes to the future. "Oh, my science!"

Isn't that what I just said? I personally don't believe in any gods, but I don't deny their existence since I have no knowledge on whether they exist or not, although I don't think that they exist.

No it isn't because "not [believing] in a god" and lack of belief in a god are not the same. The latter is the general definition of atheism, although the former most certainly can be what individuals believe.

How old are most people on here? It seems like half the threads in this section start with "I'm 13/14/15/16 and..."

The majority of the ones that make their age known seem to think that their ideas are doubly impressive considering their age.

I'd say about a year and a half ago I made the move from being Agnostic to Athiest, although I was previous Christian having been indoctrinated by my school for 7 years.

And now I'm being very much tempted by Paganism, as it is very much what you make it to be. Or at least I view it that way - Varg Vikernes does not represent Pagans!

It's one of my pet peeves. Ok, wow, you're a thirteen year old Communist. And your age paired with your preferred economic system is indicative of your intelligence...how?
