No . . .

I'd be willing to bet that education in the rural areas where I live is far worse than those areas in Tennessee.

These are sources for the education claim which Maurepas already pointed out as almost impossible to asses.

I use it wisely. That's how I got to be smarter than most people I know (including adults.) I'm not being arrogant, I really am. It is actually depressing, as I would naturally expect older people to be smarter. So everytime I've needed advise, I've had to seek it on my own. But then again, I live in rural Tennessee so that probably has something to do with it. If I lived in say . . . Vermont?, I would probably be dumber than most people.

Bad choice of alternate state... Not too much difference between rural Tennessee and rural Vermont.

There is an increadible amount of difference. :palm:

I'm 17 and find the Order of The Three Virtues to be a pleasant religion to follow.

It basically says that all morals and ethics come from three basic ideals or virtues: Destiny, Duty and Unity

Atheism, in my honest opinion, is the belief of ignorance and spinelessness.

Organised religions (Denominations of Christianity, Catholicism, Islam ect.) Seem to be the root of all hate and war. Thusly, I find them to have deviated from their original Duty of uniting people in their belief of god.

Now, this might be flamebaiting, but:

I recently heard that the Fort Hood gunman, a Muslim extremist, was defeated by a WHITE WOMAN. Not only does god exist, but he has a tremendous sense of humor.

Most people look to religion for morality or reason (I don't, I make my own morals, which I think makes me stronger), I seek only to understand. So I'm wondering, how old were you when you first started to understand your own religious beliefs?

I was a fairly devout Roman Catholic until I was about 12 ish. As soon as I began to think for myself I realised that the stories about gods and heaven etc. were just a comfort blanket for people who couldn't accept the thought that this is all there is, and after death ..... oblivion.

I was never raised in a religious family so never encountered/bothered with religious knowledge 'til I was a few years into junior school--about age 9 I suppose--and even then it was more of a 'this is what other cultures believe' as part of the national curriculum. I don't really ever remember not being aware that many people are very different than me.

Me Mum was apparently raised in the religion of a local, community-based Church of England kinda environment and most of my family have self-identified as Christians whenever I've been curious about being nosy with them. Although none attend a Church of any kind, they all seem to follow the same basic principles of helping people out and all that. I don't remember ever having felt pressured to justify my beliefs to anyone before they were debated in class during senior school and 6th form... so I had no religious beliefs to understand as such and I have never self-identified as Christian.

I went through a short phase describing myself as a spiritualist when I was 15 but that didn't last long as I couldn't really define what I thought about any faith I had. A couple of years later I thought that of all the things I'd be willing to believe/would want to believe it would be some sort of anima ideology--as in everything has energy and energy just gets transferred from thing to thing and so on...

Am 25 at the moment (was my birthday on the 5th November!) and don't honestly believe in any kind of faith - I just think people are people and do what they think they want to do, no matter what they are taught or what group they mix with so religion is all a bit pointless in my view right now but hey-ho whatever fulfills you!

Technically religion is the most complicated things in the world they have set rules yet so many are broken particually "thou shalt not kill" people have killed each other over religion The Crusades, Irish protestants and not forgetting the jews in WWII.

Religion can ruin your life most teachings are basic knowlegde anyhow like not stealing or killing but they have a certian level of moral to them yet the bible who wrote this book.

And moving on to God apprently all powerful yet his abilities break the laws of physics which is impossible I have "A" levels in RE classes and my thoughts probably tell you why.

Ok lol love to win an arguements usally do...
