Don't really want to mention the name since they wrote it themselves, and I wouldn't want them to find me complaining about it! It was well acted, but the script was poor and it went on far too long. By the time we got out all the firework fun was over, I feel like I've missed out!

What did I do? Nothing. Not my holiday. I might have given up reading Alan Moore, but that would keep me from re-reading his excellent run on Swamp Thing.

I'm sure he is talking about a virtual parliament in a game. Some sort of MMORPG.

Yes, I was discussing this yesterday and realised I'd forgotten that it's a celebration of burning Guy Fawkes as opposed to celebrating our right to blow up parliament, which is generally how I view Guy Fawkes Day.

I stayed in the office til gone 10pm, came home and drank whisky.

I suspect more and more Brits have sympathy with Mr Fawkes and his co-conspirators these days (Catholicism aside).

Oh look, an obvious distraction!

Maybe the US will start burning bearded Arabs in effigy as we shoot off fireworks in September?

It would be a convenient way to draw attention away from our domestic woes and injustices.

as far as I know, Guy Fawkes day is a British holiday/celebration. so why call it a distraction? wern't they celebrating it years before 9/11?
