Remember, remember the fifth of November
The gunpowder treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.

Guy Fawkes, twas his intent
To blow up king and parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below
To prove old England's overthrow.

By God's mercy he was catched
With a dark lantern and lighted match.
Holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring
Holler boys, holler boys, God save the King.

So, what are you doing/did you do for Guy Fawkes Day?

Watch V For Vendeta of course. 8)

Sadly, it's the 6th of November over here so I didn't a chance to remember anything.

We did have bondfires, but that's just the farmers burning off the leaves and straw so I don't think it counts.

I'm gonna start a people's revolution in his honor, disregarding the actual aims of the Gunpowder Plot. I just want an excuse to burn shit.

Irronically, I got to watch the movie for the first time on a flight from Japan back to the US and while I enjoyed it, I did have to wonder why an airline wanted to show a movie about a terrorist blowing up stuff.

Burn an effigy of the figurehead of the Gunpowder plot.

Set off fireworks.

Trotting your effigy around in a cart, begging pennies to buy the fireworks is also somewhat traditional.

I scored a free ticket to my friends play, so rather than explode things and start fires, I got to watch two and a half hours of poorly written drama :(

I reenacted the GPT with a model of parliament made of cardboard and fireworks. Only this time, Guy won. Very nice display if you ask me. For some reason, I side with Guy out of instinct.

Don't really want to mention the name since they wrote it themselves, and I wouldn't want them to find me complaining about it! It was well acted, but the script was poor and it went on far too long. By the time we got out all the firework fun was over, I feel like I've missed out!
