Hello NS. I'm sick and tired of people calling me the N word and being absolute jerks. And I wanted to know how you folks respond to racism? And how should i respond to a racist? Because NSers are probably the most clever group of people ive ever seen, and priceless intelligent (and sometimes hilarious) response after another has me asking you how can i shut the mouth of a racist with an awesome NSer-type response? Any tips?

Just blank anybody that calls you a nigger unless you have a withering put down lined up. As for witty responses that really just depends on the situation you are in. Or you could just go for a stock response of that's what your mum said last night, might make them mad and if they are mad they are not enjoying what they are doing to you. I once called a white guy being racist to my Nigerian friend a closet Nigger, needless to say he blew up and forgot about insulting my friend. Or simply just say "ah the egoic mind" most people will be like WTF. Or just just smash them in the face knock them to the ground and be like "not so clever now the big ugly nigger is standing over you" and walk calmly away. This shows them that you won't stand for there comments but at you are in control of your emotions so their attempts at pissing you off have not worked but seriously back fired. Also shows them you are not afraid of the word and this is key to shutting them up, if they cant get you wound up then it an't sport to them.

Here in Finland racism is not very rare, and unlike in most of Scandinavia, saying words like "Negro" is not a taboo. Many members of our parliament use that word too liberally to be in there.
Anyhow, if I encounter racism coming from a Finn, I usually call him albino, whitey or turkey-face, depending on my mood A Filipino friend of mine usually brings hist fists up the second he hears something racially offensive.

I live in Texas, where a lot of the black people are called niggers... just like the Mexicans and whites. Where I live nigger is used as a sort of replacement of "bro" among friends.

But I doubt that's the context here from what you describe (unless you are taking the above context too seriously). I would say, like all others, go to the proper authorities.

It is definitely, unlike what most of the people here would like to believe, not a common or widespread thing. I would suggest moving to the South, everyone here is too afraid of being called racist to be racist.

I'm disturbed by some of the advice being given in this thread. Just because someone is racist does not justify any violence against them unless of course, it is in self defense. I'm White, so if someone who is Black, Asian, Latino, etc. was being racist towards me, I think I would laugh. If it is a majority non-White area, then of course I'll need to leave to Whiter pastures if it becomes too much trouble and I want to be among my own ethnic culture.

It's a pity that many people don't know how to be racist AND civil. That you strongly dislike a certain group of people is no excuse to be rude.

Reporting such people to authorities is for pussies though. They won't always be around for you to run crying to, and generally have a habit of not being around just when you need them the most. That's why gods have given men brains, mouth and a pair of fists and feet to resolve their disputes by themselves.

Provoking the insulter into throwing a punch is a good idea - regardless of whether one succeeds in beating him to pulp afterwards, the offender would be guilty of starting the fight. It does matter a lot who threw the first punch if things go to court later.

I would think that your average racist isn't going to care about whether they have your respect or not, but I do wonder where pseudo-racists would fit into your approach? Do you distinguish between different degrees of racism, or do you only recognize people as either racist or non-racist no matter how malignant or benign in severity?

Puerto Rican - Wave a flag say Papi/Mami and go play baseball
Cuban - Eat a plantain while saying you have to go build that raft, Damn Castro!!!

South American - Tell them "No habla engles" and then promptly start a Fiesta up in that Biotch!!

Depends on the situation.

If it's clearly a joke and not meant to be serious in any way - i.e. my friends often comment on Filipinos smelling like fish in a joking manner - then I wouldn't call it racism. Racism is clear preference of one race over another by seriously putting down another race through generalizations or plain falsehoods.
