I still find it worrying that I can convince large respectable institutions to give me money despite spending the vast majority of my time in a fantasy world of my own making.

We had to give them umpteen billions so they could keep ripping off the general public, I dunno how respectable they are.

Point taken.

No, seriously, I'm 20, still live with my parents and have little-to-no responsibilities. I spend all my time on the computer and reading Mills and Boon.

Aren't you jealous?

Not really.

not a bit

I know what your thinking. you are wondering, "Why is that sexy Man hanging out on the computer." well, i dont know the answer to that.
Yesterday i was walking around, and this little girl came up to me. I said "God

It's okay, LG, you can totally come over to my place later and we'll eat tacos, bagel pizza things, and watch the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies.

When did I grow up? Probably after my 3 days after my 12th birthday, which I spent with my family mourning the loss of a close friend to gang violence. A week later my cousin was shot a couple blocks from my house. I had to start defending myself, bringing pocketknives with me where I went. I was attacked by some 'gangsters' who wanted my things. I fought with them, they pulled knives on me, I pulled mine and stabbed them. They almost died and I almost got shot(one had a 9mm).

After that, I moved here to [censored], a quiet town not on the map somewhere in Southern Oregon. While I still have matured emotionally and physically faster than many I know, I like the fact that this community allows me to regress to a state that I was denied in my early teens. I am very businesslike and have little emotion towards those I don't know, but my friends know I am the one to go to when things go wrong. I am support. I am counsel. Probably the most important of all, I am like a family figure to many around me, and I will always help a friend in need.

I'd say we're always "growing up" except people who are stagnant. But to a level of reasonable adultness? Probably 20.

Maybe later. I used to think that going to college, having a job, dating a woman over 10 years older than me, etc, were all things that could make me A MAN, but I've done all that don't feel any different.
Some day, I'll probably realize that eating nothing but fried banana and peanut-butter sandwiches made with chocolate chip waffles for three straight days is not good for me. On that day, I will have become A MAN. Until then, I shall simply rest in the doldrums of post-adolescence.

"Grew up"?

that would imply that I stopped growing up.

I'm constantly Growing up. learning new things, experiencing new things... I guess you can say I "grew up" when I died. but with the concept of an after life... even that might not be true.

A better question would be, when did I realise I was a grown-up and there was no turning back? The day I moved out of my father's place into an apartment with my then-boyfriend (now husband). As for adulthood, walking into the Beer Store (yes, that's the proper name for it in Ontario) and standing in line while my father returned his empties and had a clerk look at me and ask for my beer order without asking for ID. I knew I had finally made it.

Probably the first time I lived completely alone. I hadn't lived with parents for, oh, ten years before that, but being on one's own is quite different from share housing. Having said that, I'm still not willing to give up some childish indulgences, like swings. :p

I think one grows up on the day they spend more on bills than toys and no longer bemoans the fact.
