Taft is the biggest misconseption in American history. He was not a bad president and actually passed more progressive bills then Roosevelt. The hate for him is uncalled for.
I hate Clinton the most and Kennedy is the most overrated but worst would be the string of presidents that made a mess of reconstruction.

You can see why they attempted to impeach him.

(Yes i know its mainly Nixons and FDR's fault but harding started the slide by losing the black vote)

Why Clinton? And how is Kennedy overrated? In his short term, he:
-fixed the economy
-saved the world from the brink of nuclear war
-kicked off the space program
-introduced Medicare and the Peace Corps
-got the Civil Rights Act passed

Andrew Johnson. Buchanan is a close second.

Sure, Wilson was a racist, but Johnson actually tried to stop 'reparations' for black people.

James Buchanan tried to implement diplomacy between North and South, but did so without actually trying to solve any problems. Appeasement does not equal diplomacy. Still, he's second worst because he sure can talk the talk, unlike Johnson who is a brute pure and simple.

Frankly, this user reviles them because these two managed to be worse than Reagan, which is an achievement in itself. George W. Bush is merely unintelligent, but everyone likes to smack him even though, frankly speaking, he could have been MUCH worse (even if that's hard to believe.)

I meant horrible leaders. Nixon was a shitty leader because of his continuation - and worsening - of the Vietnam War, and Raygun ruined just about everything.

Yes let's blame Nixon for nam. That's logical. I don't like Nixon but neither he nor Reagan were the worst leaders this country has had. They are devisive (sp?) controversial figures, but worst? Certainly not.

but in all seriousness: Buchanan, Coolidge, Pierce, Johnson, George.W, Hoover, Carter, Harding were all 'bad', I can't decide which single one was worst. In my life time I'd have to say Carter and over all, Buchanan.

Missing the larger picture is something msnbc does rather well. Don't get me wrong, he was a despicable person and by no means even an average president, but still not the worst.

FDR, definitely, worse than Carter and Nixon combined. As I've explained earlier..

Hippostania wrote:FDR was an authoritarian left-wing president that destroyed the ideal of American exceptionalism and freedom for decades to come. His policies started the current entitlement culture, where the people think the government should act as their babysitter. Ronald Reagan did his best and bravely started deregulating the markets and destroying remnants of FDR's tyranny in the 80's, but even that was not enough.

Even though America is the greatest nation on Earth, it could've been even greater. Decades of stagnation caused by FDR's policies are to blame; he truly is the worst president in the history of the US.
