I'd probably do what I do every day without having to read all the war 'filler' in the newspapers.

You know media and its exaggerations. They'd manage to portray a minor feud between two neighbors as World War 3.

It's what they do. How else would they sell newspapers? By having genuinely interesing stories, or news that we actually need to know about it? You're giving them way too much credit.

Why? I don't see how so. Everyone knows that you can't get anybody to do anything about anything, especially about civil rights, without bitching for years and years about it.

I don't want homosexual marriages, "equality" between males and females, "equal" wages", and lots of other shit, so I'd prefer it if all of you that whine about it kept your fucking mouths shut, to be honest.

At least if there's peace there won't be dead soldiers. I won't have to skip the pages telling me all about how they were incredible brave heroes, their complete personal history, and a shitty piece attempting to remind us all how bad war is.

I get it already. Soldiers are dying and war isn't as much fun as computer games would have me believe. Telling me about each individual soldier doesn't make any difference and i'll not even remember their name past the page turn never mind the end of the day. ARGH.

I don't feel very offended, since I'm a bigot after all. The very definition of the word is intolerance toward other beliefs, after all, and while I do tolerate some beliefs, there are many that I simply find so revolting to the point that I can't even respect them. I don't see wanting to deny rights on the basis of gender or sexual orientation as any different than wanting to deny rights on the basis of skin color. So I'd say the comparison is quite valid.

It is commonly held, wherever you may travel, that violence, aggression and war are inevitable.

Yet it is worth noting that little in vestment has been made in workable alternatives.

I suspect that if there could be some way to support vast industries churning out products to enhancing peacemaking, and justify the creation of a huge and powerful Department (or Ministry) of Peace to rival that of Defense (without lapsing into Orwellian doublespeak), we might actually make some headway.

Peace is something we sometimes give lip service to, but usually use as an excuse or even synonym for warmaking.
