And then the Conservative candidate in New York's 23rd district lost to a Democrat, after the district had been held by Republicans since the 1850s, essentially since the creation of teh Republican Party.

I say it's a wash. Some Democrats won, some Republicans won.

Hmm. Let's see.

VA: Deeds ran a pathetic campaign, and lost in a State that tends red, as well as having a tendency to swing away from the President's party - under Reagan, Bush I and Bush II, VA elected Democrats, and under Clinton and now Obama, VA elects Republicans. Surprise factor here is what, again?

NJ: The monumentally unpopular Governor loses his re-election bid, with the numbers far closer than polls tended to suggest and people saying that it was more about the economy than about Obama. And in NJ, Corzine is the whipping-boy for the economy, largely because Bush isn't around to blame any more. Again, surprise factor here is?

NY-23: For the first time in over a century Republicans lose this district, taking their share of NY's 29-person congressional delegation down to just 2. This race also exposed the GOP's infighting, dirty tricks and nasty tactics for all to see, with Hoffman lying about Scozzafava (the Republican who could have won the election), not to mention that he was the ultimate carpetbagger - he didn't even live in the district, and flubbed questions about local issues.

ME: Not good. It appears that, just like CA, the bigots won due to highly-deceitful campaigns, such as saying that "Teh gheyz are coming after teh kidz! Tell teh gheyz that they can't have teh marriagez!" This is the one that disappoints me the most, as well as reminding me of Franklin's saying: Democracy, indeed, is two wolves and a lamb deciding what's for dinner. I would remind people that no great advancements in civil rights - ever - were achieved via the ballot box. Including the right of women to vote - the 19th Amendment was passed via Congress and State legislatures, not a popular vote.
Fuck it all. Let the world burn - there's no way roaches could do a worse job of being decent than we have.

c/p paste, no commentary; won't end well, iLock.
"I am the Elder King: Melkor, first and mightiest of the Valar, who was before the world, and made it. The shadow of my purpose lies upon Arda, and all that is in it bends slowly and surely to my will. But upon all whom you love my thought shall weigh as a cloud of Doom, and it shall bring them down into darkness and despair."
