Alright, so it's been about a year since I've seen one, so I guess I'll start one. So, assuming you've not been to active on the internets as of late, or just been sticking to some websites that've not mentioned or had furries, you're probably wondering "WTF is this furry stuff I keep hearing about, so, let me explain. Here's the thing, I have a lot of hobbies. We all do. But say...racing. If I want to talk about racing, I talk about racing-maybe a series I like or a rule change or an advancement. And then other people who like racing can talk about it. But I don't give some sort of primer about racing and then solicit the opinion of a bunch of people who don't give a shit about racing and ask them what they think.

Which is what you just did. You asked us 'what we thought', well, what I think is that whatever other people get up to doesn't require my input. And I'm not sure what the point of asking is.

Somewhat. The definition of furry varies pretty widely, so it's more or less up to you to decide.

Resident long-tailed weasel reporting in. I've been loosely involved in the fandom for about five years or so, mostly getting started after reading Concession and moving on to other furry webcomics for a while. I became rather interested in the art, music, and smut a bit later on. It honestly wasn't until about a year ago that I actually came to identify as a furry rather than someone who loosely followed the fandom.

My species came rather naturally, with my past dabbling in neopaganism leading to some degree of identity with an animal spirit. Despite having abandoned that belief, I still felt a strange sense of identity with the species. It's really odd to explain. I don't actively claim to be a member of that species, nor do I have a desire to be one, but it feels as though it is a part of me in some fashion.

I sadly still have much work to do on my fursona, having little more than a name (which I'm starting to have my reservations about the surename). I've attempted to try to draw her on many occassions, but I have yet to properly master the artform.

I don't really mind it as long as it isn't that degenerate "yiffing" crap. If they just like drawings of anthropomorphed animals, that's ok with me.

Yes, I asked what your overall opinion of furries was and you said:

Now, as for giving a primer, most people already know what racing is, and that doesn't require much on an explanation. And I didn't solicit an opinion, I gave what I felt was pretty unbiased information on what exactly a furry is to those who did not know.

I used to be rather big into the fandom. Not so much nowadays, but I still appreciate the art and subculture and people. They're one of the few groups on the internet I've had an all-around positive experience with.

I've not had what I would describe an all-around positive experience, but I've never met a particularly vicious furry...
