They blame societal imbalances on male domination because it used to exist and still does in certain fields (i.e. worker pay, public treatment, rape culture, etc).

Those are the extreme fringe of feminism (and sadly the loudest). I compare mainstream feminists with Wollstonecraft, really good footing on feminism if you ask me and she had good ideas for equality of the sexes for her time, and I think modern feminism is a continuation of it.
