There have been plans for a railroad across the bearing straight since the early 1900s don't tell me that its impossible we went to the moon didn't we, people said we couldn't do that and we did. And maybe if we would develope the mag-lev technology then it would be possible to transport people and goods. How do you think America settled the west and Russia finally got into Siberia it was through railways and frankly our railway are kinda out of date. Infastructure and Ag are the key to saving the economy.

just pointing this out, USA government currently is definantly not centrist, if you think so then you really need to get back up to date, a blind man can even see this.

edit: fail quote lol

No, the majority of the government is firmly to the Right. But the administration currently occupying the White House is avowedly Centrist. If they were as far Left as Glenn Beck would have you believe, we'd already have universal health care and a stimulus package that wasn't hamstrung by wasteful tax cuts.

Nahh. Regulation is a good thing. The "free market" would end up killing for more people.

How exactly, and why would the free market end up killing people? And I'm assuming you mean for more money.

Because everytime it's been completely unregulated that has been the result.

Free-marketers require us to pretend history doesn't exist.

I still want to know why a bureaucracy like the fed would be better than the free market at converting dollars to commodities.

In libertarian fantasy land, the only function of a central bank would be to convert paper money to either gold or a basket of commodities. So it would keep all that gold or commodities in a vault somewhere or have futures contracts or something, in case anybody ever decided to come exchange. That would prevent the fed from printing money and destroying the value of people's dollars. I'm trying to ascertain why this would be more efficient than just buying commodities or futures in the private sector.
