I don't see what you're arguing.

NO it should all be done at the exact same time.
Legalized that is.

There are certain issues that need to be worked out for when a person is married to many people that do not need to be worked out for same sex couples. Once those issues are solved, I'm all for it.

Shit, I'm probably the loudest activist for poly marriage on the forum, and one of two resident tax professionals, and even I realize poly marriage needs some planning behind it.

Heh, before we can even discuss the ins and outs, we have to decide if we're planning hub and spoke marriage or block marriage.

Whether to create hub and spoke marriage or block marriage, Equitable taxation, next of kin determination/rights, divorce, inheritance, child custody... for starters.

That is all decided in the contract.
AKA it can all be improvised.

Not really. Keep in mind poly marriage may not take place all at one time.

Members could join or leave.

A legal framework, much like current marriage laws, must be in play.

Entirely possible with block marriages. Hub and spoke, however, would see the death of the hub eventually.

I don't think it's likely to occur often, if at all, though.

Practicality.

Divorces are messy, and costly (doubly so if the case is Wilson v. Wilson v. Wilson v. Wilson). Requiring a divorce and seperation of all marital assets each time a member joined or left would be administratively ridiculous.

Most congressmen are lawyers.

We simply title it the "Attorney Reinvestment Act". They won't read it closely.
